Have stayed in Dunboyne Castle Hotel on breaks before and as its relatively a short distance from my house (20mins on the motor way) we decided to treat our family to a sunday lunch in the newly relaunched IVY restaurant in the hotel. Immediately upon entering, we were really impressed with the new decor (I especially loved the new padded dividers which are located in the room - which allow diners to enjoy their dinner in much more privacy then before, ideal if you are on a romantic night out - or in our case dining with 2 young children - who were entralled with them and didn't disturb fellow diners in the restaurant!). As always, the staff in the restaurant were as pleasant and ammenable as ever - and went through the new menu options with us. I went for the tian of salmon and smoked salmon - it was divine! Followed by the pan fried fillet of cod with a herb crust, loved loved loved the mash with it (and definately get a side order of cream spinach too - really complimented it!) Portion size was generous and our children's meals were brought out straight away while we enjoyed our starter - An extra lovely added touch was the childrens menus had spongebob pictures on it and other cartoon characters which the kids loved (means nothing to adults but it made the kids day!!!!). It was only while dining there yesterday that we realised that "Kids go free" for Sunday lunch......amazing value! (this includes main course and dessert and a drink!) My husband had the new duck spring rolls followed by the steak (both of which were gorgeous). My top marks goes to my dessert choice though Lemon and Lime Semi Fredo and Earl grey tea sorbet.....sounds odd, but so refreshing, particularly with the warm weather yesterday! We ended up having a lovely drink outside in the sunshine afterwards..... Really looking foward to going back again soon - next time for an overnighter or weekend stay though!!!!

We had dinner here for our childs first Communion with the granparents.
The food and service was first class and very good value. The staff were also very attentive to our child. We will definitely be back for sunday lunch or by ourselves for a night out in the very near future. Thank you dunboyne castle..

We had dinner here while staying at the hotel. The food was very good - I had gnocchi and my mother had lamb. Nicely presented and very tasty. The restaurant is very noisy if there are very many customers in it.

The restaurant service was abysmal, seemingly due to insufficient waitstaff or inefficiant staff. We had made a reservation for 7:30, and were left standing around at the hostess station with no one to seat us. Once seated, we spent about 15 minutes waiting for our waitress to return and take our order. She went to tables all around us, but ignored us. It took 25+ minutes for the food to arrive. When the food did come, it was very good.

When we had finished eating, the waitress took our dishes and we asked for the bill. Again, we waited close to 15 minutes for her to come back with the bill. The annoyance of poor service outweighed the good food in the end.

We ate here while staying in the hotel in ajnuary this year. Service was very efficient. As soon as we arrived, we were offered a choice of seats which was nice. Different breads were brought to the table and they were all lovely. Even better, we were brought more when we had finished! This makes a change from some restaurants where you are given 1 measly piece of bread and dare not ask for more!

We really enjoyed our food. Between us we had scallops, steak and pork. All cooked how we liked and presented beautifully. To finish, we had a brownei (yum) and a pistachio thing, the name of which escapes me. 2 good coffees to finish and we were full. The restaurant was very busy that night. There appeared to be a few parties abd I had heard the hotel was full but the service was not affected. We will eat here again next time we stay.
