I can't belive this hotel is still standing. I was staying in this hotel for couple of days and i don't even know where to begin. Due to the fact that i come from Slovenia i was always last (drinks, food,...), above all the service let me know that i'm not welcome at all. Nice one going on holidays to spend my free time and i get blamed for all that is wrong in Croatia.

Beautiful view from newly refurbished hotel only few steps from the sea. Staff is very friendly, food is prepared in a way locals do it with fresh seasonal ingredients.
I liked true mediteranean relaxing atmosphere on pool terrace of the hotel. Could recommend this place for a stress free relaxing holidays!:)

Like a lot of the larger Hotels in Croatia the Lavanda is tired and dated. Although the bedrooms have had a facelift. Bedrooms and bathroom spotless. Sea view rooms are the best, the hotel appears to have an annexe. Pool area great but I would imagine in peak holiday times it could get very busy. Breakfast OK but nothing exceptional, we didn't eat dinner in the Hotel so cannot comment on that. Plenty of car parking. Free wifi downstairs. No bar area as such, drinks can be bought around the pool and plenty of seating outside. Staff very helpful. Plenty to see and do on Hvar and in Stari Grad which is a lovely small town, access runs from the Hotel to Stari grad along the sea front, takes about 15-20 minutes. The air conditioning was a little bit noisy but never the less it was air conditioning!

In my two professions ( newspaper columnist and ambassador) I can only rarely find a people and a place who are - at the same time - able to provide very good services ( food reminded me of the best home cooking) for professional meetings and friendly help to a guest who only wants to enjoy beautiful beaches, impressive nature and plenty of healthy space for walking and bicycle tours. We were deliberating about the importance of the preserving the cultural heritage (Hvar has three monuments on the protected UNESCO list) and that great Mediterranean tradition was very well evident in our personal contacts with the staff, who was very proud of the 25 centuries of the cultural and civilizational tradition of ancient Stari Grad, the oldest city in Croatia. "Lavanda" hotel grow their own olive oil and lavender, like the Greeks did in 4th century BC. Of course, the furniture could be better, the tv sets are too small, and out of season it could be very difficult to reach center of the City and stay a little bit longer in some of very fine restaurants, because the taxi service is pure rip-off. The hotel should provide for its own shuttle service, and in running current renovations put more attention to this special civilization heritage, but it already make a great place for the people who are choosing such all inclusive hotels only to enjoy a great beaches, clean pools, sport facilities, rich pine woods and crystal clear see. I recommend it for family with children and the people who would like to learn a little more of the European past. The luxury of the mind is much harder to find, than the luxury of the well furnished apartments.

Located few steps from the sea, lots of trees around, close to Stari Grad centre still far enough not to be disturbed by loud music from docks at night ... food is nothing special, still good... clean pool on site.. However, if you don't like cigarette smoke, definitely don't come here. This is a smoking hotel. We have got a lovely balcony facing trees and sea and couldn't nearly open it - because of the smoke. So annoying. Even at 2 am there is still someone sitting on balcony, having good chat with friends, smoking cigarettes, disturbing your sleeping.

Room Tip: if you don't mind noisy smokers choose definitely the room with balcony facing sea

We stayed here as part of a Eurotrip and the half board and swimming pool were a welcome relief from hostels. There was a slight problem when we got into our room, in that the cistern leaked on to the bathroom floor. However, before we had really had chance to settle in to the room a plumber was at our door to rectify the problem, without us notifying reception. The food was basic, but there was a good choice and there were no drinks included for half board and the waiting on staff were slow to clear tables. Pool area was nice, clean and relaxing and close to the beach. This is a great hotel for families. Please note if travelling to the hotel from the mainland, try to get to Stari Grad port, not Hvar, as this is much closer and Hvar will cost c.350kn in a taxi.

This hotel has all the conditions to be good - but did not.
Located in a beautiful forest, a few steps from the sea, with beautiful views and peace and quiet.
But ...
Rooms are unfurnished, old bedding, towels frayed, tv located on a ceiling, no hair dryer, no fridge ...
Food is a special story. Some dishes are very good (sauces, salads) some inedible (fish, soup concentrate).
The staff is friendly, impeccable cleanliness.
A tall lady boss probably, we were very surprised by their loud annoying remarks at the expense of the customer arrogant posture and organizing business lunches in self service room.
Kitchen staff served the vessel prepared for guests and somewhere applies full plates, the hotel staff to the late night crowd and having fun along the entrance to the hotel ...
Beautiful nature has saved our vacation.
