“Lovely location with beautiful views”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

We have just returned from a week at Hotel Bozica. The weather was perfect so we were very lucky as apparently it was unusually hot for this time of year. The pick-up from the airport with transfer to the island by speed boat is well worth doing as it cuts the journey time in half and it all runs very smoothly.
We had a balcony room with beautiful views and although it was quite small, it was kept very clean and we were more than happy with it. The hotel is 6 years old but although there were small signs of wear in the bathroom it was in the main a very pleasant room. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is of a good standard. We had half board and as the menu doesn't change we did struggle for things to choose after a week there. Some guests only had bed and breakfast and ate either in the village or on Lapad island (which is easily accessible in 15 minutes on the nearby ferry).
There are plenty of places to sit or sunbathe although as another reviewer has said, we struggled to find a beach umbrella that wasn't torn.
The island is very quiet but we knew that before we went there and did enjoy just relaxing. There are a few bars in the village which we did visit most days and it was lovely to watch all the local children catching their fish from the pier. Lapad island is smaller than Sudarad but is much busier with more bars and restaurants - we particularly liked Restaurant Peggy which is up one of the back streets as you get off the ferry. It has spectacular views, lovely food and is clean and modern and reasonably priced.
Dubrovnik is just over an hour on the ferry, then 10 minutes or so on a local bus. Obviously well worth going to - beautiful city, and would recommend the cable car ride for spectacular views.

The only problem we had with Hotel Bozica was the fact that we booked it independently and the price quoted to us was in Euros as is the currency used on their website for the room rates. We also paid our deposit in Euros and, therefore, took Euros with us to pay the balance. However, when we wanted to settle our bill for the room we were told that the room rate was in kunas and would have to be converted into euros and commission charged for this. The rate they wanted to charge for the room then increased to take into account the conversion rate on the day. Needless to say we weren't happy about this as we had been given a price which we had accepted. After various discussions between us, reception and the Hotel Manager, they agreed that the price we had been quoted was the price we should pay. So, I would say, if you are booking independently as we did, just be sure to take a print-out of your emails with you so you have proof of your booking.

We have just returned from a short break at Hotel Bozica but it was so relaxing there that we felt we had the benefit of a week's holiday in four nights. Booking the transfer meant that we were picked up at the airport and starting our holiday more or less straight away without the stress of trying to find our way. Well worth the 40 euros each especially as the journey includes a 10 minute trip on a speedboat.
The staff were charming and friendly and couldn't do enough for us especially the receptionists Marija and Gigi. We were allowed a free late check out which meant we could enjoy the pool etc and avoided that hanging about feeling before travelling on. I am sure this was possible as it was the end of season nearly and the hotel was still busy but not full. It demonstrated to me how service minded they are rather than being out to get as much out of you as possible.
We took the bus and visited the other side of the island. It is worth doing this. The restaurants in the village were very good, and the owner of the village bar, Theo, was very friendly and always up for a chat.
I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Worth paying extra for a room with a balcony.

We chose Hotel Bozica on the basis of Trip Advisor's laudatory reviews and we weren't disappointed. The night-time, pitch-black boat trip across to Sipan was exhilarating, if breezy, and the staff kindly kept the kitchen open for a few extra minutes to enable us to order supper. Nothing quite prepared us for the fabulous view from our room the next morning though - it's now the wallpaper on my phone!

I've got little to add to the other reviews - it's the perfect place to combine some R&R with a trip to Dubrovnik. We did 4 nights in each. That said, I suspect that it would be less enjoyable if the sun didn't shine as Sipan is tiny and there isn't much to do.

The food in the hotel restaurant is very good but quite limited e.g. I think that 3 out of the five meat main courses were steaks (very good!) with different sauces. It would have been boring for a week's stay as there really isn't anywhere else to eat. What is spectacular is the staff. Everyone was delightful, especially the waiters. Their English was perfect and despite being very busy, they were also happy to chat about life in Croatia. Their wine recommendations were also excellent (the wine is great value). The dining room/veranda is the perfect size because, while there was no sense of being cramped, it was very convivial with people chatting across the tables.

One suggestion though - they really do need to invest in some new umbrellas on the terrace by the sea. Even in mid-September the sun was strong enough to need some shade and a) there weren't enough and b) those that were there were tiny and the fabric was rotted and torn so my husband and I ended up huddled together to stay out of the sun. This might be an 'end of season' issue but I don't think so.

Room Tip: It's probably worth paying extra for a balcony. There is such a splendid view that it seems a sh...

Having just returned from our stay at the Hotel Bozica I can only say what a fantastic place to go. The Hotel itself only boasts 27 rooms and we had one at the front with a sea view which was breathtaking. Staff could not do enough to help and everyone there was so friendly. Both breakfast and dinner were more than adequate with a good choice. As I have seen on previous reviews, I too recommend the the omelettes, cooked to order and a very nice lady doing so. Sipan itself is quiet and very little to do there. It is a holiday where you can do as much, or as little as you like. The ferry, Postira, runs daily from Dubrovnik out to the islands Kolocep, Lopud and Sudurad so you can visit the other islands should you ever tire of the sunbeds!! They are definitely worth a visit. There are plenty of walks to do and the walk to the viewpoint is certainly worth doing. Luka, the other side of the island is definitely worth visiting also. Would I recommend this Hotel - a big YES.

I was a bit taken aback from one of the previous reviews that said this hotel was full of middle-aged British couples. This is because, at 49, I hadn't until then realised my hubby and I WERE a middle-aged British couple! We met several other lovely British couples who were all enjoying their holiday as much as we were. So, this can't be a bad thing;) This was the relaxing part of our trip, as opposed to the walking and sightseeing in Dubrovnik the first half.

The private boat transfer was great, and the scenery fabulous. Our room was small but spotless, and the view was fantastic-I am rarely awake for sunrise, but the one I saw was amazing. The hotel itself is small and quiet.

The pool-perfect temperature and never crowded, just like the rest of the hotel Plenty of chairs and shaded areas, and the poolside service is wonderful. As I've suggested to the owner, the only thing missing is a Jacuzzi!

The sea-The sundecks and umbrellas are scattered along the sea so that you never feel overcrowded, and there is always one available. As we went in September, I don't know what it was like in high season. There is a lovely, easy entrance into the sea, unlike Hotel More on Lapad. You do need sea shoes because of the pebbles and sea urchins. There is a kayak and canoe/kayak thing for use by hotel guests, which we attempted unsuccessfully!

Restaurant- excellent breakfast with a really nice woman cooking eggs to order. Dinner was good, but we wished there was a pizza option, as we grew tired of meat and don't like fish. We went to Lopud on the last night for pizza and really enjoyed it. The lunch was fabulous, though! Best cheese and ham sandwiches I've ever had, and you must try the Chimichanga!

Service- This is where Hotel Bozica really stands out. From the van driver and reception to the waiters and bartenders-they are all really interested in making your holiday easy and stress-free. We loved the waiters-especially Alen, the philosopher, and the really tall, thin one who reminded me of Clive Owen. I asked him why he was always so happy, and he said, "This is a great job!"

The town of Sipan is quaint and really pretty and had 3 restaurants. The short walk from the hotel is very nice, too.

The only disappointment was you can't get to Miljet or Korcula easily from Sipan. The only option to Miljet is a private boat tour (from the hotel) costing 200 Euros for 1- 4 people-your best bet is going in with another couple. Unfortunately, the boat we hired had a technical issue and couldn't go, and it was our last day. We were going to take the van trip to Korcula, but we were enjoying the pool and sea so much, we decided not to. The ferry is available to Lopud and Kolocep 4 times a day in September.

This was just the relaxation we needed, and we enjoyed it much more than the 5-star hotel we stayed at in Lapad (and better service).

Bozica has to be one of the most beautiful and spectacularly located hotels on the Adriatic . The quality of the food and the staff service is excellent if, at times ,a little on the formal side. Whilst its tempting just to luxuriate and chill out by the pool or on the lower terraced areas by the sea Sudurad and the local area is well worth exploring. Lots of well signposted walking tracks and virtualy car -free roads to get you to many historical sites , hill top churches and monasteries and secluded bays. Also a good base to hop over to other Elaphiti islands by using regular ferries from the harbour at cheap prices - recommend short trip over to Lopud and take a beach buggy to Sunj beach . Definitely one to return to .

Spent four very pleasant days here this month. It's quiet, relaxing and the staff are great. I'd recommend not taking up the half-board option as the food in the village, ten minutes walk away, is cheaper and probably better. The wee place with the decking, the first you come to on the way down is a really pleasant place to eat and a trip to Kod Marka in Sipanska Luka is great too.
The wasps are indeed irritating but I didn't see anyone stung and they're an issue pretty much everywhere in that neck of the woods. The best thing of all though is the setting. Sipan is delightful. Go here if you're looking for a very quiet break in lovely surroundings and you most likely won't be disappointed. Oh, and if you can afford to splash out on a room with a balcony do so.
