Just about to get up and depart from Hotel Bozica but we will be back! This hotel and the village of Sudurad have a certain magic that makes for a fantastic holiday. We have had 10 days of pure bliss.
Cleanliness - the hotel is very clean, our room was tidied every day, sheets changed regularly, as were the towels. You can get beach towels from reception.
Rooms - we had a sea view with balcony (B11) and even with a third bed for our 10yr old it was plenty big enough. The Bathroom was large and airy. Good shower. Hair dryer attached to wall in bathroom. Nice bath products. Safe in wardrobe.
Food - WOW!! Breakfasts are buffet style and there is something for everyone. Julia "the omelette lady" makes fab pancakes and omelettes with a choice of fillings. Freshly baked pastries yum yum, meats and cheeses, bread selection, fruit, even the tea was good! We stayed bed & breakfast but half board is available. Not sure if menus are the same but we found the food delicious, well cooked and value for money (£££). Our son isn't fussy but not keen on sauces so asking for plain chicken or pork etc wasn't a problem.
Staff - this is a family run hotel and it comes across as such, friendly relaxed and the staff will try and accommodate any requests, all of our waiters spoke at least 2 or 3 languages!
Entertainment - there's a Wii, pool table and weekly live music (very good) and that for us was enough, we tend to play cards or yatzee or read. Not into nightly entertainment.
Sports - there's a small infinity pool on the terrace but the sea is only a short flight of steps away. Good for swimming, snorkelling, there's a kayak to hire and this year there was diving instruction available.
Sudurad village is a short walk away, through a hill path or via the road at the rear of hotel (very steep). There are 3 bar/restaurants. These are clean and friendly and obviously cheaper that eating at hotel but nice for a change.
Transport - Bus around island, ferry to mainland other islands, private boats. Hotel reception can advise times etc.

This hotel is great for a peaceful, relaxed get away. It was our 3rd visit and we will be back, over a third of those staying were repeat visitors which says it all really.

Don't know where to start. This place sits on a cliff overlooking the Meditterranean, so the scenery is stunning. It's family-owned and operated and new, sleek and modern. The restaurant, which overlooks the Meditteranean, is tremendous and the staff throughout the hotel practically falls over themselves helping you. Can't recall how I found this gem, but my husband was so impressed with me/it. The island is tiny, quaint and very old. Shot some of the most beautiful pictures ever of nearby fishing village and old crumbling architecture. Looked like something from a movie or story book. For what amounts to about $80, you can arrange roundtrip transportation to and from Dubrovnik, via car then boat (vice versa on return) through Hotel Bozica. I simply cannot recommend this place enough. I think we paid less than $100 a night and it's as nice as any 4- or 5-star hotels I've stayed in.

Room Tip: I don't believe there was a fitness center (could be wrong) and there might have been a spa or s...

I have just returned from an amazing week on Sipan Island. I have now re-read the last 5 reviews and I agree with every single one. This is the one hotel I'd almost rather not tell anyone about in case it means I can't get a reservation for the next trip!
Everything was perfect. We couldn't fault a thing.
Having researched all the options for transport from either Dubrovnik or the airport, none is as good as the one offered by the hotel. They collect you, drive to a small inlet on the mainland, carry your heavy suitcases in 35 degree heat, lead you onto their speed boat and 10 minutes later you're there. The view as you approach the hotel is stunning itself!
Brilliant holiday, brilliant hotel, fabulous staff.

This is one of the most perfect holidays that we ahve had. It started with the speed boat ride across to the hotel from the main land despite the sea spray that this generated. We were greeted on arrival by two really friendly staff and one of the receptionists showed us to our room. Throughout our stay the staff could not do enough for us. They were friendly and polite and quite willing to answer any question that we might have. We went half board and with the extensive menu and the choice of grilled fish this is what I would recommend. The waiting staff were knowledgeable and able to advise especailly on the local wines. We often ate lunch here as well whihc unlike many htoels was very reasonably priced. We had a room with a balcony and a wonderful view to wake up to every day and to be able to sit out in the evening was also a joy. The pool was well maintained and we went out in then kayak and swam in the sea several times a day. We also hired a sailing boat and salied around the other islands that are close by and swam in a blue grotto and dropped anchor for lunch at a sandy bay. This was a perfect way to see the nearby islands. The rooms were tastefully furnished and the only down side we found of having a balcony was that the room was a little small, but this was not a problem for two weeks of beautifuy sunny weather. The breakfasts were self service and the buffet selection was vast and there was a lady who made pancakes and eggs to order- wonderful! We visited the little town close to the hotel and went to the opposite end of the island but there is not really that much to visit on the isalnd, it is more about relaxation than sight- seeing. All in all this really was a little piece of heaven and we both returned feeling rested and relaxed/

Room Tip: Rooms in the attic are cheaper. Rooms with a balcony are slightly smaller that those without. Rooms...

After a very hard year at work this was the perfect start to our holiday and was described perfectly by another guest as being close to heaven.

Positives: Superb location on a delightfully, quiet island with a private beach and access to the sea. Staff are all friendly and accommodating in fact it was the receptionist who proudly showed us to our room - a nice touch. We went half-board and would strongly recommend this as the menu is extensive, staff are also knowledgeable about the food. The food was so good that we ended up having lunch there as well - breakfast is fantastic!! The hotel isn't modern in terms of furnishings but it is clean throughout and well-maintained. It has a lovely, family feel.

There really isn't much on the island so if you want to shop and eat in lots of restaurants etc then this would be a place to visit for a day as it is more of a switch off holiday. We weren't bored for a minute and feel that we could easily fill a week with relaxing, swimming, kayaking and eating.

We will absolutely be returning as we forgot work completely and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our little visit to paradise!

We arrived by speedboat in the dark. Spectacular views of the Milky Way and a meteor shower! All for 45 euro each from the airport. This really is a very good hotel indeed. The room was spacious and had a wonderful view of the sea and Lopud Island. Buffet breakfast was varied and tasty. The omlette lady was great, the lack of fresh orange juice the only negative. The swimming platforms are very well laid out. You can hire canoes and even learn to dive! The restaurant was good too. The view is spectacular, the food was tasty and the wine local and quaffable! If you are staying for a while, the restaurants in the tiny ajoining village are good too. But I strongly recommend getting the bus to Sipanska Luka and eating at Konoba kod Marka. Possibly the best seafood in Croatia. I cannot describe the octopus cake. You just have to go and taste it. And have the most romantic meal of your life.
Possibly the best thing about Hotel Bozica is the staff. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and well trained. It's obviously a great place to work!
It's not cheap, but you can get good deals out of high season. Oh, and they worked hard to find us a room on Lopud for when we were moving on and gave us a (free) lift to the ferry.
We will return to enjoy their excellent hospitality again.

Room Tip: Worth the extra for a sea view and balcony.

We returned to the UK yesterday after the most relaxing family holiday we've ever had, due almost entirely to the owners and staff of this wonderful small hotel. We took our three children ( 17, 16 - ok, hardly children anymore - and 10) and did wonder after reading some reviews whether they would find it too quiet, or be frowned upon by couples ( see reviews earlier this year), but they loved it, and there were quite a few children of similar ages staying at the same time. I would say that unless your children are of an age where they can swim independently, you may find it less relaxing than we did, but even our youngest was rarely out of the water ( pool - about 40 feet long and pleasantly warm - and sea).

We opted for half board given the relative lack of local alternatives, and would echo the comments made by othe reviewers about the food. A special mention must also go to the friendly lady who cooks the breakfast omlettes ( and any other egg-based breakfast you'd like) for keeping our youngest well stoked each day. Our only real problem at breakfast and lunch was the the annoying wasps, which generally forced us into the open- fronted dining room: hardly a major problem, but a bit of a shame.

Rooms are clean and aircon effecient. Our children had rooms in the attic, which were fine, however note that B34 and B35 have skylights facing the back of the hotel. My wife and I were initially allocated B14, which is a lovely big suite... and not what we booked! Realising their mistake after our first night, we were moved to A15, which still had a balcony and was very pleasant. One minor gripe is that our double bed was actually two singles with frames pushed together, leaving a gap of about 5cm in between; this didn't bother us particularly, but some guests may find this frustrating!

Hiring kyaks from the hotel (30 kuna per hour) is fun and snorkeling is good, particularly if you go out as far as the furthest of 3 rocky outcrops where the sea bed plunges out of sight. We watched several people taking 1-2-1 diving lessons, which are well organised. We also hired a small yacht with local skipper for a day ( €200 /1500 kuna), which took us to another island, Mijet, and was made exta special by dolphin sightings. So, you'll gather that there is plenty to do other than lounging around.

It is well worth taking beach shoes to avoid cuts from sharp rocks and the spines of numerous sea urchins, but these can also be bought from the village shop for 60 kuna (about £7). The hotel provides beah towels, which is helpful.

Overall, then, a great place to stay and one I feel sure we'll visit again.
