From the moment I booked on the phone, it was clear that they wanted us to feel welcome - and we did. We took a two-day break. Ask for one of the rooms facing the view (they cost a little more, but what a view). Nothing was too much trouble. After ordering dinner and our wine on first night, I thought perhaps we could try an additional English wine with our starter and save half that bottle for night two. 'Of course'. And other little things - all to make your stay go smoothly. The dinners were top notch, the breakfasts good (the 'standard' cereal choices and 'standard' pots of jam were the let down, but the bacon was just delicious). The wine list is something you could spend all day reading - it is amazing. Seriously, think about studying it for half an hour before you go down to dinner because you will find some amazing bargains and some very interesting wines.
If nit picking, we would have liked table cloths at dinner, but that's a personal preference thing. We booked it as a treat and it was.More
