“Friendly, clean, great value”
Reviewed May 2, 2011

My partner and I spent a night here in April 2011. The hotel was very comfortable, extremely clean and the reception and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was jisy £5 from Leeds city centre.

Good: Decent sized room, handy for events at the stadium, great view of the pitch, comfy and large beds, good shower. Good price

Bad: No hair dryer, no mirror except in bathroom, paper thin walls, noisy guests (there was a ball on in the stadium; reception did not seem to do anything despite being called twice around 2am). Room freezing on arrival with wide open windows which were hard to reach/close. Tiny TV. No fridge/mini bar, no shampoo or shower cap (fixed shower head). No internet access

Not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel but for one night it was ok. Take ear plugs, hairdryer and mirror!

But without the facilities. Rude staff. We had to wait 20 mins before the rude receptionist deigned to turn up. Terrible place unless all you want is a cheap room for one night.

Travelled to Leeds to see our daughter who is at Leeds University. Perfect location - within walking distance of her Halls and Headingley High Street where we enjoyed breakfast. Fantastic view of the Yorkshire Cricket Pitch from, I think, every room - couldn't believe it. Shame it was the wrong time of year - otherwise you could have a grandstand view of a match from your room! Massive room and massive bed - very clean. Tea and coffee provided. Incredibly good value and another big plus is the secure parking but do check ahead that there isn't a rugby match on in the adjoining stadium as I believe that parking can be a problem if there is.

Stayed here this weekend whilst visiting my daughter, who is at University in Leeds. Good location and generally good facilities, though as my wife pointed out, no dressing mirror or hair dryer in the room.

The big problem however was that there was a ball on unbeknown to us and the music and general “bon ami” afterwards on our corridor meant that we didn’t get any rest until 4.00am on Sunday morning. That spoilt it big time unfortunately, though the Manager was extremely sorry and accommodating about the incident.

I wouldn’t be put off staying there again, but I’d make sure there wasn’t any such events on before we did.

Two of us stayed here recently whilst visiting nearby family. The stay was an interesting experience. Headingley Lodge is not really a hotel. It is a modern sports stadium with accommodation built in. The rooms are located on two upper floors and there is a small reception and that's it. There are no other facilities. A basic continental breakfast can be delivered to your room for £6 and we understand that a hot breakfast is available at a cafeteria next door for a similar price. Headingley is a vibrant student area with a large choice of eateries. Restaurants proper are in the city.
PLUS POINTS : 1. The rooms are huge with a large comfy bed. 2. The view from the rooms over Headingley cricket ground are amazing. 3. The bathroom has a great shower. 4. Car parking is free and secure but different if there is a match or function on. Check. 5. At £49 a night it is good value.
MINUS POINTS: 1. The room and other areas were not as clean as they should be. 2. Internal sound insulation was poor. We had to share our neighbours TV preferences and other activities. Headindley Lodge was clearly built to stadium standards and not to modern hotel standards. 3. Too few mirrors in the room and only towels for one person. We asked for and got more. 4. No proper hotel facilites. 5. Reception staff were not knowledgeable about local facilities but they were friendly.
For our visit the location of Headingley Lodge was great and we might stay again, but we prefer a real budget hotel with proper facilites. We think Headingley Lodge needs to up its game.

Heading to a gig at the Excellent Brundenell Social Club this place was in walking distance.

Very impressed with the size of the room, the bed and backing onto the cricket ground made for a quiet nights sleep.

Excellent value for money, we would stay here again.
