Description: The Duke of Wellington in East Horsley is an ancient country pub in Surrey with a striking appearance thanks to Lord Lovelace’s Victorian passion for decorative brickwork. It sits at the top of Ockham Road South by the green – ready to entertain friends and strangers alike with warm hospitality. We serve great gastropub food. We are passionate about service and the provenance of the food and drink. Our chef and the team cooks fresh food from scratch. We serve specials every day. To see our latest food offer, have a look at our website. It's a great privilege to be looking after this masterpiece of a pub for the next 10 or 25 years. The Duke is now owned by 4 partners from Peach Pubs. We aren't a part of a chain, we are successful and so we do have a group of 18 pubs. We are enthusiastic individuals attempting to make a series of great pubs work again. Jo designed the Duke new look. Jordan is there most days looking after the guests. Peach is fairly special. Most years, we win Best Employer in Hospitality industry because we love it, and we love our team. We really hope you come and enjoy the Duke of Wellington sometime soon.

Much improved since its refit a couple of years ago, we now use 'The Duke' regularly and have been really impressed.

Friendly service and good food at a reasonable price. Recently had the gammon rib-eye whilst my son had the burger and both were impressed.

We will return.

Advertising lobster special dinner booked stating we would like lobster as instructed received a phone call from members of staff to say lobster very popular and could not be guaranteed but decided to eat there anyway .Mentioned we had booked lobster and informed that this was not on the menu excepted this as we had been informed this was a possibility so was very surprised to see the tables either side of us served lobster and the deal still being advertised! Meal was OK nothing special service was good extremely hot evening waitress polite and helpfully. Wonto eat there again though not that good and feel we were inticed by an offer that could not be honoured.

Dropped in for quick bite to eat with my wife as we were both away on business and passing each other near the pub. The pub was busy and able to accommodate us quickly without a table reservation. There was a nice busy atmosphere with friendly bar and restaurant service. The menu is interesting with plenty of different and exciting looking food to try. We both had the Bangbang chicken salad which was really nice and we think good value. We would go back again if we were in the area and recommend to our friends. There is plenty of seating inside and outside.

I regularly go to the Duke of Wellington for lunch which on the whole has been reasonable. The last few times it has been really disappointing. My last visit I had the
Summer Vegetable Salad, Orange & Toasted Cashews, Oriental Dressing 7.00 which would barely fill a large tea cup. The only orange was a tiny piece you could hardly see.

The previous week I had theFree-range Chicken & Pork Terrine, Cornichons, Toasted Bloomer 7.00, this was like eating a lump of lard there was no flavour to the'Terrine'. I had to ask for some pickle to go with it to make it more palatable.

It is a shame up until the last two to three weeks the food has been reasonabley good.

We were staying overnight at the local De Vere hotel and took the 10 minute walk into the village to visit the Duke of Wellington. The food was excellent - we enjoyed the Vegetable Platter and mains of Salmon Fishcakes and Hake with sides.
Sophie our server was fabulous and up sold us their special Rose which we enjoyed very much.
Lovely setting and a restaurant I have no hesitation in recommending if you pass through the area.
