“Fabulously located house for a perfectly relaxing break”

Just returned from a long weekend with a group of 10 girlfriends. Beautiful house with amazing views of the meare, located in the heart of the village close to the shops, beach and lovely Dolphin pub. The house is very conducive to both fun and relaxation. We were lucky with the weather so spent lots of time on the terrace chatting, eating and drinking and watching the boats and wildlife. Highly recommend a walk to Aldeburgh too. Would definitely come again! Top tip for staying at the house: bring extra loo roll & extra dishwasher tablets. And bottled water as a few of us thought it tasted funny.

“Lovely house for a get together”
Reviewed September 15, 2017 for a stay in September 2017

Lovely house in a great location. Nice garden with direct access to the lake (meare) and has a small rowing boat to explore in. House is very comfortable and light, bedrooms and reception rooms are good and kitchen is large, only slight downside is the small oven and hob. There are great walks directly from the house with Aldeburgh two miles away down the beach.

“A warm, family home for rental”
Reviewed July 9, 2017 for a stay in March 2017

We rented this for a big family celebration. All the rooms were taken. Nobody complained of nothing to do, everyone chipped in to help in the kitchen, and the youngsters and oldies could separate and make their own noise independent of each other!
The little rowing boat was popular, and easy to use. The house provided us with almost everything we needed. Thank you.

“Just Perfect !”
Reviewed May 29, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Really beautiful house with an amazing location . Very spacious and very well equipped with a lovely feel to it . Great superking beds with good quality bedlinen and towels , everywhere extremely clean , very quiet location .Plenty of books to read , games to play , large tvs. We were lucky to have fantastic weather and made full use of the relaxing garden and rowing boat . So lovely to watch the swans with their cygnets gliding by . Within easy walking distance is the Dolphin pub , had an excellent meal there , and also the Kitchen which serves very good breakfasts. There is also a tea room , small village shop an antiques emporium , and a great golf course . Highly recommended.

“Fantastic long weekend”
Reviewed May 9, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We recently celebrated my husband's 60th birthday and stayed at the Hermitage. A truly memorable time was had by family and friends who stayed with us at this wonderful house and others who visited for the day. Fantastic meal cooked for us by The Seasoned Chef while we wallowed in the hot tub. Mixed weather but it's what you make it. Would definitely re-visit. Cannot thank Angela and her team at Aldeburgh Coastal Cottages enough as they rescued £100 birthday money inadvertently thrown away in recycling, just before bin emptied! Fantastic service

“What a beautiful place”

This property has a lovely location next to the lake in Thorpeness. It has its own boat, which those staying in the house can use, and badminton and tennis net and boules for games in the garden. In good weather there are plenty of places both to sit and to eat outside. It certainly comes into its own when it is fine and warm. It has a games room indoors for bad weather. The bedrooms are clean and well presented and most have a view of the water. It is a perfect place for a large family get-together.
There are a couple of good eating places in the village, and a small village shop, but we needed to go to Aldburgh or Leiston to shop for food. The men loved the golf course, which is just a stone's throw from the house.
One word of caution, young children have to be supervised at all times, as there is direct access to the lake. We had a wonderful time there, despite watching the children like hawks.
Lots to do in the area in sunny weather, less so for our two days of rain.

Liked best: Proximity to the lake
Liked least: Little to do in immediate area if raining. Good games room helps though.
