“Great pub!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

FOOD REVIEW - Spent a very pleasant evening at the George when we were staying at a farm nearby. The landlord/landlady were so friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy making the customers happy. The food was excellent - large portions of good fresh food competently cooked. Wish we had a pub like this in our village!

Great food, great staff, clean and comfortable rooms, very accommodating.

The owners of this fabulous little place make you feel very welcome from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. Nothing was too much trouble for them and everything was done with a smile and friendly manner.

Breakfast was just the best, cooked fresh to order (no hot plates) it was the perfect start to the day.

I would recommend this place to any one.......i suggest you try it for yourself...go on book yourself a weekend away.

Room Tip: Only 3 room available, nothing to choose between them

I stopped here for three nights visiting family in somerset. My partner also held a party here for her mother. The pub has loads of charm and you are made to feel welcome as soon as you set foot inside. We had breakfast, lunch and evening meals in the pub and we weren't disapointed. Really fresh food and good portions. Very tempted by the wine list!! The pub only has a few rooms which are cosy, obviously you don't get all the facilities you would get in a Hilton, but this is still a better experience. Pete and Jane are so helpful and obviously take great pride in their business. Highly recommended should wish to use as a base to visit somerset and Devon.

Me and my 19 month old daughter stayed here for two nights and were very impressed from the moment we arrived. I'm a fan of 5* star hotels but there was something about The George that made it feel like home from home, so necessary when travelling with a baby. The owners always went out there way to make sure we had what was needed. They even waited up until after closing so they could welcome us.

We was part of a party using the hall for a 50th which was perfect for us. They kept telling us to relax and enjoy ourselves and not to worry about the mess but we still tided up at the end!

I couldn't recommend a more comfortable welcoming place than The George.

Also worth highlighting is their food. The breakfast was cooked to order with locally sourced food and cooked to perfection, as was the lunch we also had there.

Stay here and see for yourself!

Room Tip: Room 1 is on the road side so is fairly noisy but coming from London im used to it.

No complaints - Very accommodating and friendly and room clean and fresh. Left too early for breakfast but was offered a packed lunch which was good and convenient. Adequate parking available and a welcoming atmosphere throughout.

Highly recommendable. We had a great long weekend at the George. Peter and Jane looked after us the whole time, The meals were lovely and very reasonably priced, we couldn't wait to get up in mornings for one of Jane's breakfasts! The room was very clean and comfortable with a hot powerfull shower. Peter keeps the ales in tip top condition - its a nice change to get a full pint in a friendly bar. We are looking forward to going back in the near future.
