“Fell in love with it before we got there!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2010

We have visited Dalmunzie a few times but this was our first weekend stay. The staff were so friendly and welcoming! Nothing was ever too much bother.
We saw Dalmunzie on-line when looking for a wedding venu and booked it immediately and I can say with 100% confidence, that after staying this weekend I do not have one doubt about our choice. It is the perfect getaway.
The food is excellent, the Wine List even better! You can't help but relax here. We were delighted with every aspect of our weekend away.
I cannot understand the bad reviews on this website at all. It seems as if those who have complained are simply going to this hotel to look for fault. You clearly haven't been honest when reviewing. There is so so much to enjoy. The rooms are beautiful, very clean and tidy, and the decor compliments the style of the hotel so well. Yes the bathrooms are dated but I don't believe they would fit the character of the hotel any other way.
The lounges are so cozy, and to top it off I have to point out that Brianna and Scott the directors, are a pleasure to be around. They are never far away and always like to know that you are enjoying yourself. Very friendly and involved staff. Its nice to go to a hotel where you can tell that all of the staff are happy and really do care and enjoy their work.
I believe this is a place we will be returning for many years to come!

A late decision to stay, before a day on the slopes of Glenshee. The hotel staff were very efficient, slightly restrained, but unlike some other reviewers, I thought genuine and happy to help. Breakfast was good quality and quick, full dinner was a taste sensation, we stayed much longer at the dinner table, playing family board games, we realised the clock had stopped and it was much much later than we thought, but no feeling of unease from staff, in some hotels it would have been very clear that staff wanted to get away, not here. A missing piece of our game was ready for us at checkout. So well done Dalmunzie! We'll be back...

Stayed here for a ski weekend recently for the first time despite some negative reviews and was very glad that I did. Arrived late afternoon from the slopes at Glenshee. Were warmly welcomed by Andrew the manager and shown around - nothing was too much trouble - very relaxed atmosphere and we were immediately treated to complimentary tea/hot chocolate in front of a lovely fire. Our black lab loved it too.

Service and friendliness of staff throughout weekend was excellent and could not be faulted. It is true that some of the furnishing and fittings are a bit dated but it was clean tidy and comfortable and I would not trade modern bathroom fitings for the ability to lie full length in a relaxing and hot bath at the end of a long day - magic! We all slept like logs although bedlinen could do with a bit of upgrading for a more luxurious feeling.

The breakfasts were fantastic - just what you need to set you up for a days skiing or walking. Dinner on first night was very good and on the second night was excellent - every course was delicious.

The bar billiards table and darts board were a great hit with my teenage sons and in better weather the small golf course would provide lots of amusement I imagine although covered in snow when we were there.

Many thanks for your lovely comments and constructive feedback. Dalmunzie in the snow is a very special place and the golf course is definately good fun when it appears after Winter.

It saddens me to read bad reports for this hotel. We arrived late on a Fri night and were made to feel so welcome there. Our room was so comfortable, breakfast was excellant and, all weekend, staff were so friendly towards us. The hotel is old, full of character, but cosy and welcoming. I look forward to going back!

We have spent a long weekend at Dulmunzie on two occasions in the last eighteen months and have enjoyed the experience immensely. The staff are wonderful and very professional. The food and wine is of high quality. The bedrooms are full of character, especially the tower rooms! The location is ideal for walkers of all abilities and the staff are on hand to offer advise or suggestions. We shall definitely be back.

Having stayed at the hotel (now apparently a 'castle'!) many times in the past (since 1987) we were appallled and saddened to see such a change. The hotel used to be warm and welcoming, with a genuine welcome and real warmth.

Pretentious and stuffy staff now operate this place and reading other tripadvisor reviews one can well see that 'rosettes and awards' do not represent the views of some guests.

The complaints made in the tripadvisor site are answered in a haughty and offhand manner by someone who thinks that the Emporer is wearing new clothes!

The food (lunch) was overpriced and average!

AVOID.

Sigh...This chap is a good friend of the previous owners and arrived for a quick lunch with an agenda to complain. You will note he has joined this site to make this review and provided no personal details. He complained about all changes upon arrival and his review rests on a stay of one hour!

I suggest our recent inclusion in the 2010 'Scotland the Best' travel guide as one of Scotlands most romantic hotels and also as one of the great get-away-from-it-all hotels is a far better judge of Dalmunzie then this fellow...

I stayed at the Dulmunzie a while back on a business trip. I thought the setting was very peaceful and the food was very good.

The staff were very attentative and were always happy to help.

However, my room could of done with a good clean. It was very dusty. I could see it thick on the bedside table. The bedding etc were all very clean but the dust really bothered my allergies. Also the door in the bathroom was broken, someone could easily of locked themselves in! The shower wasnt great either...definately no power shower it was just a trickle.

However, maybe if i had complained to the staff they may have moved me but i wasnt staying long so i just made do!

If i had been paying for the accommodation i dont think i would of been too happy! If the room had of been of a better standard this would of been a very nice stay!

Thank you for your kind comments regarding Dalmunzie's staff and also your constructive criticism of the dust on the bedside table.

The hotel had only just re-opened after a 6 week break but this should have been cleaned to your satisfaction. As you suggest it would have been best to bring this to our attention so we could have dealt with your concern immediately. We have checked all the bathroom doors relating to the conference attendees but have failed to find a problem.

If you read this response please contact us with the room name so we can do a double-check.
