Minster Lovell ruins and the nearby church evoke times long past. The day we visited, we were absolutely alone and free to roam, explore, and imagine as we wanted. It is a perfect place for quiet reflection and wandering. I have a family connection to the Lovells, and the surrounding, lush foliage made it easy to feel the history there.

Located behind the church, these old ruins had a really eerie feel, but were also great to explore and get an idea for the grandeur of the original hall. A must do.

Ruined mansion in a riverside setting. Ultra gothic, popular swim and picnic spot in the summer get there early. But if you time it right it is a magical and unspoilt place.

Good information boards showing original building. Not too busy. Easy walking distance from the Old Swan hotel
