“Not really a restaurant, more a cheap old boozer”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

This pub is set in a nice location and consists of a small bar with little rooms off and an enclosed conservatory.

At the rear is a pretty beer garden which is lovely in the summer.

The alcohol though is the cheapest you will find but you have to have a certain type of stomach to handle it, To me, it tastes God awful, but after a few you get used to it. By that time you're normally on your backside!

Normally nice people in there and a homely atmosphere. Not for kids unless you are outside or in the conservatory

“Decent...”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Everyone raves about the Anchor, and how cheap it is.Yes...the drinks are cheap...and everyone seems thrilled and happy with this...really nice people, with a nice relaxed atmosphere,Friendly landlord and landlady, and friendly barstaff...sounds perfect...doesn't it?......It would be if I could get away with drinking the brew.In my opinion...it is cheap for a reason...... I have tasted alot of lagers, and this is probably worse than Kestrel, and Hansa...(latter does not exist anymore for a reason)..If you can manage to get to wetting your lips with a third pint...you are either past the point of caring...because it is potent...or in my case ...I cannot stomach the taste no more.

“Friendly pub”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Very reasonable price on drinks and quaint little pub with lots of rooms and open fires. All drinks are Sam Smiths versions of regular beverages.

“Best Pub in the Town”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

The best Pub in town by far. Always an excellent pint and an excellent price. What more can you ask?
The locals are very friendly unless you sit in Malcolm's seat.
