I looked at the tripadvisor reviews after we had stayed as we had visited this hotel some years previously and enjoyed ourselves. On reading the reviews I saw that all had the same view.
What an excellent hotel.Very good location, peaceful but not too far away from Whitby, Pickering, Yorkshire Moors etc. Beautiful historic building with extensive grounds. Excellent rooms and facilities, whether it be the 'old' house or the newer garden wing. First class food, and the icing on the cake, fantastic staff only too happy to help.

Room Tip: The garden rooms are modern and very spacious and have excellent car parking availability. Bit of a...

My husband and i attended a wedding here. The grounds and building were stunning and really impressive on arrival. Our expectations were high as the traditional setting gave the impression of grandeur and all good things to come. We were booked into the Woodland wing, the walk to the room alone was still exciting and lovely. The facilities were impressive and the huge nicely decorated and immaculate room with super king size bed was outstanding. The on-suite bathroom itself was bigger then a lot of rooms offered at other hotels with a stand alone shower, a huge bath and double sink with plenty of light and mirrors located throughout the room. The only disappointing thing for our trip was the wedding breakfast...tasty food but not enough! Everyone left hungry! We will be going back for a break and if we ever go for another wedding we will take a pack up!!! This venue is ideally suited for get away breaks and this reflects in the lack of detail and attention to functions as it obviously does not need to specialise in Weddings to survive.

We have stayed at Gisborough Hall a couple of times before, and chose it as our venue for a family 3 day celebration on the run up to Easter weekend. The reservations team made it easy & pleasurable to organise all of the details from bedroom options through to the private dinner on the middle night. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel special, and the team were on hand throughout our stay.

The food & service are of excellent quality, and the chef was flexible with little tweaks to the menu, especially for the children.

Thank you very much to the Gisborough team - first class. Looking forward to coming back again!

Room Tip: If you are travelling with children, ask about the different family room options - we've used bo...

This is a beautiful building in lovely grounds. We stayed in the Woodlands Wing, which is essentially the cheaper wing, yet the room was lovely! Each room has a small raised area with a table and chairs and a skylight, making the rooms feel more homely and spacious. The bathrooms are nice and everywhere was immaculately clean. Breakfast was fantastic with lovely continental meats and cheeses and a great choice of cooked items (not a buffet!!). Dinner was the highlight of the break. You are initially seated in the beautiful drawing room with luxurious sofas and a wood burning fire. After ordering from a fantastic choice, you are shown through to a lovely dining room with stunning views over the grounds. Coffee and liquors can be taken in the drawing room again after the meal. The menu rotates, so if you spend two nights here it is certainly worth dining here on both nights. To cap it all, all of the staff we encountered in the hotel and the restaurant where helpful and friendly. This was our second visit in 6 weeks and we will certainly be returning.

Room Tip: All rooms seem nice, even the budget rooms!

We had four nights, on a B and B basis. Very good hotel and set nicely in its own grounds. Staff very pleasant. We did have one evening meal in the bar and it was very good. The hotel ticked all the boxes. a very good point for exploting North Yorkshire Moors.

Stayed 1 night on DBB in April. Booked into main house & stayed in Admirals Room...brilliant, apart from the previous resident had returned to Cardiff with the only key. Didn't have to climb in through the window, although everytime we needed to get in or out we had to be escorted by the staff!!!! The complimentary sherry is a very nice touch (not found this in any other hotel). Bed & facilities very comfortable. Service from all staff very courteous & friendly (although a little disjointed at times). Dinner in Chaloners Restaurant excellent. Breakfast superb. Will return

Room Tip: Best to book direct with hotel & request room Book early for Spa treatment as limited (short no...

I stayed with my husband at this hotel for a couple of days this week (2- 3 April) and had a lovely time. The room was beautiful with a large bathroom, very clean and everything was provided (bottled water, coffee and tea facilities, hair drier). The food in the restaurant was of very high quality and beautifully presented, also the food in the bistro was good. Breakfast was fantastic, everything fresh and a large choice from the buffet table. Staff were friendly and polite and very helpful. All in all we couldn't have been happier and would love to visit again. Highly recommendable!
