Was doing coast to coast walk with my son and Daves Victorian farmhouse was a highlight. This is not your bland corporate hospitality but a friendly ex builder who is focused on giving his guests what they want. Pick up within 10 mins of call, welcome tea and biscuits, ferried to and from village pub at times to suit , a great breakfast, large comfortable rooms and great value. Would recommend unreservedly

Dave is an absolutely brilliant host. He picked us up on the walk, making two trips for us all, drove to the bank in the nearby town, drove us to the pub - and back again and then to the start of the walk in the morning. Lovely man & great service. Bedrooms huge and comfy, great showers and the whole place is very relaxed. Just one criticism, Dave is so relaxed that breakfast and packed lunch was very DIY and not that great and the coffee awful! It's incredibly cheap, and we weren't charged for the packed lunch. We'd happily pay at least £10 a night more each, in return for good coffee and a better packed lunch.

Mary and I agree with all the many positives given to Dave. A lovely old house with comfortable lounge, furniture and bedrooms with modern ensuite.

Dave showed great hospitality and was most helpful and gracious and a lovely chap. We were picked-up from the Coast2Coast after a long warm day on the switchbacks.and returned the next morning as requested. Dave also took us and another guest to the Black Swan where we had a pleasant evening meal.

Dave goes out of his way and it was a memorable experience.

Thanks.

Mary and Peter

Previous reviewers have said it all - Dave is a total star. Fantastic place to stay, and his lovely kind ways just bowled us over. Tied at No.1 on my list for places to stay on the coast to coast. We had a fantastic night at the Black Swan with him - felt like we had known him all our lives - and he is the one character we met on our walk we'll never forget - loved this place.

Room Tip: They are all mahoosive! And a true delight.

Echoing the sentiments of other reviewers I would like to thank Dave for his hospitality and help during my stay. Lovely old house, set in large grounds, with real charm and character, but with very modern ensuite bathrooms and great showers. Dave picked me up from the Coast to Coast trail and took me back in the morning to continue the walk - nothing is too much trouble for him. The plush local pub does some really good food, and again Dave runs people back and forth at their convenience. I played pool with some regulars and they were a really friendly bunch of characters. Great value for money, and I would say that Dave is the star - a really humble, charming and genuine man who deserves every success in this business....and he likes Neil Young. Bonus!!

Our family of four stayed with Dave during the Coast to Coast Walk. The house is a step back in time with its lovingly furnished bed rooms, and a living room with comfortable leather couches for everyone - a bit like a period movie. Dave is a most accommodating, gracious and helpful host - and his slightly disheveled appearance just adds to the whole experience. Definitely one of the most memorable place we stayed at.

We stayed just the one night on our Coast to Coast walk and loved it. We were independent travellers not using the services of a travel company. The house is superb and Dave was the perfect host with nothing being too much trouble, from the pot of tea as we first walked through the door to the excellent breakfast before we left the following day. Just what was needed after a long day's walk in the rain. The room was large and comfortable. We also had access to his lounge. Although we didn't need his pickup or drop off service to and from our staging point because we had cars with us, Dave did offer to drop off the walkers in the morning to allow the drivers a lie in! A true gent and excellent company. We felt very much at home.
