Visited Abbot's Fireside for lunch with friends today. I live locally but have not eaten at the inn for sometime but now under new ownership again.
We were warned service would be slow as the chef was on his own but we were not in any hurry & the plate we saw coming out looked good.
Excellent light lunch all freshly made, well presented & tasty & good value for money. Sadly we were too full to try the puddings but will be back again.

We were fortunate enough to meet the owner while we were there, and got the VIP tour of the historic hotel rooms they have to offer. Very neat experience. The pub was quaint and cozy for our fun group!

Stopped here on our way to france as it looked a quaint and original place to stay as opposed to the usual suspects in Dover. We were not disappointed the restaurant offering in the evening was a simple uncomplicated menu but thoroughly enjoyable with cooking to a high standard. Pity we seemed to have our cloak of invisibility on for over 15 minutes waiting to get a drink - but that aside nothing else to fault. Breakfast in the morning was one of he best I have had, and the staff are very friendly and helpful - I look forward to our next trip so that we can return...

Stopped here as a last minuite decision. What a find. (well eventually....don't trust your sat nav that has quickest route in it !!!)
Fantastic the first word that comes to mind. Beautiful well kept building. Lovely and clean, I'm very fussy. Room was lovely and comfortable and newly decorated, very tastefully with nice little touches, Comfy bed and finally somewhere with plenty of towels for two people to use. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. We had dinner in the restaurant which was reasonably priced and yes heres that word again, fantastic! In the morning we were given the choice of a cooked breakfast or opt for the complementary continental breakfast. we were still full from dinner so had continental which was displayed lovely and plenty of it.
we will definitely stay at this lovely place again.

We stopped, not having made a booking but having read the reviews here. It was our first time here - we have never been to this village before despite living close by in Ashford. I said in another review that we are spoilt for choice for good places to eat in this part of Kent. We did not stay at the hotel, we just stopped for dinner.

The restaurant is in a beautiful old building. It was quite busy for a Wednesday night too. Our meals were excellent - chicken pie is highly recommended. There was only one person working in the restaurant, and he was struggling to cope with everyone. So there was some waiting for service. We saw one couple leave after waiting too long. They must have had someone off sick - we did not ask. This could happen anywhere and I would not hold it against them. This would have been another 5 star review if this had been OK.

I thought the meal was good value - it came to less than £40 for 2 people having 2 courses with drinks. I will add this to my ever growing list of places to return to and am happy to recommend it to others.
