Description: We would like to welcome you to The Rose and Crown Inn (AA 4 Star) situated in the heart of the Village of Elham in an area popular with walkers and declared as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are only a short distance from the Channel Tunnel at Cheriton, approx 5 miles from Folkestone and 6 miles from the City of Canterbury. The Rose & Crown Elham is a Grade II Listed building, it was originally timber framed and built in the 16th century. Most of it has been re fronted, and extended at the south end, where a date stone gives the date 1740. This inn was used for many years for the Elham Petty Sessions, and the courtroom can still be made out on the first floor. Mortises and grooves in the beams show where a small room was set aside for the use of the magistrate, who visited here once a fortnight. The first game of Bar Billiards was played here in the Rose & Crown, Elham in 1932. David Gill of Ox Road Farm, North Elham was responsible for creating the first Bar Billiards table, which was first played on here at the Rose & Crown Elham. (Information Source Derek Boughton. “Lovely traditional pub”
Reviewed May 29, 2013 via mobile

New owners- had Sunday lunch there group of twelve.
Service and food was good and excellent value at £10 for two courses. Very generously the owner did us a deal on the meal and let us bring in a cake.

Great food and fantastic prices. Can't recommend this highly enough. Loved that prices were great yet the food was locally sourced and of great quality.

“Great food, friendly staff and good value for money”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

We went for Sunday lunch today with friends and found the staff very friendly with a very good choice of food. We all ate something different and all of us were more than pleased with not only the taste but the quality and quantity. They did not scimp on the veg like most places and best of all they use fresh and not those horrible frozen ones. So refreshing to see localily sourced produce. Well worth a visit. Oh my other half said lovely real ale as well (shepard neame)

“o.k. sunday lunch”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

Went here for easter sunday dinner four adults, three children.we managed to get a parking spot right outside but our friends had to park quite a way from the pub not realising there is a car park just at the back.nice welcome it did'nt seem busy at all at 3pm.we had a table just round the corner near the lit fire what was quite nice.wi-fi for the kids.three meats to choose from for roast everyone seemed to go for the beef which they enjoyed apart from i had the steak dinner which was huge my friend had the salmon which she enjoyed.there had been a bit of confusion as to do we order at the bar or is there a waitress.my friend went to the bar to get the menus.then we had a non smiling waitress take our order who seemed a bit grumpy through out our stay.going here is ok not awesome but not bad either.

“lunch at the rose and crown”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

my wife and myself went for lunch at the rose and crown today (wednesday 20th march) and we both really enjoyed the food. what a quaint old pub/restaurant. the only down side was that the chef didn't heat the plates up, and they were cold, what a shame, "hot food - hot plates".
we will defo be going back to try the food in the evening.
