We were moving slowly today after a morning of waterskiing, but I would definitely allow 1 - 1.5 hours for the hike from the lake to the church. Bring water and enjoy the view at the top. It is a clearly marked trail with stairs and cobblestones.

Follow the signs from Cadennabia to this beautiful little church on the hillside and expect some stunning views of the lake and mountains.

We walked from Lenno to Griante today via the little villages set back from the lake and on the way we climbed to the little church called San Martino. The hike took about 4-4.5 hours in total.

It was a steep 40 minute climb up the path to the church from the road. It would be much further if we had climbed directly from the lake) but well worth it for the view.

Well worth doing and so totally satisfying to sit back here here at Varenna and look across at the little chirch way up on the hill.
