“Beautiful holiday home and owner Trisha is very welcoming!”
Reviewed November 28, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We really enjoyed our stay at Langs Hall. The owner Trisha was very welcoming and accommodating. My partner and I have two little boys so we wanted to make sure the accommodation would be suited to their needs. Trisha was more than happy to help in anyway she could and even removed furniture to enable our babies cot to fit in the room.

Langs hall is a beautiful looking building and has a large drive way and private gates. When we entered the property we were greeted with a lovely array of bread, milk, cake, prosecco and even little chocolates for our boys. We thought this was a nice gesture to help us settle in .

The house itself is decorated in great taste and was very spacious for my family of four. The boys really enjoyed the large rooms, finding games and drawing pencils left in the cupboard and they loved exploring in the back garden.

The living room has a very peaceful feel to it and is lovely to relax in after a long day.

Overall a lovely, accommodating and highly recommended place to stay!!

“Lovely house”
Reviewed November 2, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

The house is simply stunning, beautifully decorated, well equipped and very comfortable. We have stayed in many rental properties and this one has to be one of the best. The area (Leyland) isn't very exciting but that does not detract from the house. We used it as a base for Liverpool which is about 40 minutes drive away. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating .

“Boutique heaven with joyous luxury touches in the heart of Lancashire.”
Reviewed August 26, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

The love story started from the moment we walked in the door...a wooden crateful of goodies for weary travellers / exhausted parents who had endured a 5.5 hour trip with a carful of kids tirelessly singing Disney songs the. Whole. Way.

And we're not talking a perfunctory few teabags and wretched UHT milk cartons either. We're talking mineral water, Caffe Gusto machine coffee pods, fresh milk and juice in the fridge, delicious fruit, proper bread, blue eggs I have only seen in Waitrose, and a bottle of prosecco, for goodness' sake. It was immediately pretty clear we were onto a winner.

The house has been sympathetically renovated and decorated in an achingly tasteful style, full of Farrow and Ball tones and Laura Ashley loveliness. There's a waterfall shower and roll-top bath, and even toiletries for guests' use. The towels are the kind of pristine, fluffy, meringue-like quality you only find in hotels and upscale spas.

The bedrooms - very comfortable beds with extra pillows and an assortment of blankets available - were furnished to a very high standard, and included hairdryers and power points in useful places.

The living room had a number of comfty chairs and a sofa, and a decent size TV, as well as a log-burner effect electric fire which was rather nice to switch on after a day of unremitting rain. There is a good stock of reference books and maps and Places To Visit literature on the dresser, and little things like children's crayons, and some classic board games. Something else we loved was the absolute absence of bossy signage...it just felt like a home.

Trisha, the owner, was not at all what we expected after years of grim-faced, Hush Puppies-sporting holiday cottage proprietors who appear terribly put-upon to have people rent their properties. She is like some softly-spoken, fabulously glamorous fairy godmother who welcomes you and gently answers all your daft questions before disappearing, probably on some kind of cloud.

We encountered a small problem with the shower leaking at one point. When we called to report it, Trisha instantly arranged for a plumber to come out, ensuring it would be when we were out so as not to interfere with our holiday, and also showed up in person to change all our towels for fresh ones. We were having difficulty drying our laundry, so she took that too and it reappeared that evening, crisply tumble-dried.

Other things of note were the very useful provision of a high chair, amazing whizzy tap fitting in the kitchen with colour-changing light so you can see what you're washing, a bag of ice in the freezer, kitchen roll, cloths and cleaning products...all these sound like small things but they illustrate an attention to detail that characterises Langs Hall, and sets it head and shoulders apart from most of its peers.

I feel like this is all sounding too gushing, so in the interests of balance and so this doesn't read like an advertorial, I must include some downsides. It might be nice to have summer-weight duvets - the 10 tog ones were a bit hot for August, but this was easily remedied by removing the duvet and just using the duvet cover with a blanket. The kitchen could perhaps do with a couple of basic plastic chopping boards, for meat and vegetables, so as not to spoil the nice wooden one. The movement-sensitive air freshener in the hall and scent sachets in the bedrooms won't be to everyone's taste, but are easily disabled / shut in a drawer. That's it. That's all I can think of and these are hardly showstopping horror factors.

We booked Langs Hall for 4 nights as a break to attend a family reunion in Manchester and day trips to Blackpool. It was ideally situated for this, Leyland being just under an hour's drive away from both.

Langs Hall takes some finding online. A new holiday cottage, it's only advertised on Tripadvisor, which will sometimes return it in search results, and sometimes not. Hopefully, the owners will start up a Langs Hall website, which will give it the exposure and popularity that it undoubtedly deserves.

In short - this place is perfect. Before everyone else discovers it and there's no availability, book, book NOW.

“A perfect get away with friends and family!!”
Reviewed August 16, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stayed at Langs Hall with friends and my young daughter for two nights (14th-15th Aug) and we all had a fantastic, comfortable and refreshing time! The welcome was over and above and prior to arrival the owner (Trisha) couldn't do enough - messaging good places to eat. They even added a birthday cake, fizz and sweets for my daughter to the welcome box of milk, bread, jam, butter, fruit, biscuits and juice. Everything you could possibly need was provided and I mean everything! The house has a welcoming atmosphere and the furniture and soft furnishings are immaculate and of a high quality.

We couldn't have asked for more. The owners even moved the TV on arrival so my daughter could watch Netflix. Nothing was any trouble to them.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Location was great for exploring Southport and Rufford Hall plus more. If you forget anything Tesco is a 5 minute walk.

Thank you for a lovely stay!

“Beautiful English cottage with authentic features & modern furnishing. A home from home.”
Reviewed July 28, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Our friends from North Carolina recently stayed here whilst visiting for our wedding in June. They were struck by its charm and authentic English style. The property catered to all their needs, beautifully presented, clean and welcoming. It was a home from home and an experience they will never forget. They hope to return next year!
