This pub claims they are family friendly. We arrived with a 9month old and 2 year old and was told as soon as we arrived we had to leave by 3pm due to having a baby and a toddler. After agreeing to stay and paying extortionate prices staff were then extremely rude to us because our little boy was walking round waving at other customers. We were in the family side of the pub there was only 3 other tables in use and no other customers bothered by him. He was supervised by us and was never left alone yet we were told loudly and very rudely in front of customers he is not allowed to walk around and must sit at the table. We felt like naughty school children and very unwelcome. If you want to visit as a family we suggest the other pubs in Leyland. Not worth the money and they have never heard of manners. Extremely disappointed as we used to spend a lot of time in this pub as a couple before we had children.

We moved to the area 5 years ago and struggled to find a new local we both liked. Gave the Gables a try about a year ago and now we are finally happy that we have our local. The owners Ruth and Alan made us feel welcome from our first visit as did their staff. They have a nice rotating selection of real ale and the usual selection of lagers. The food is traditional pub grub homemade and locally sourced. We usually have lunch on Saturdays but this weekend called for breakfast. This was a special to allow customers to watch the rugby World Cup.
We are not rugby fans but are fans of Ruth’s cooking. Breakfast was outstanding. All cooked to perfection butchers sausage, bacon and black pudding. Free range eggs with hash browns mushrooms and beans. Price wise very fair, great value for such well cooked fresh produce.
I really recommend this pub.
