We've been using the The White Cross p.h. for many years before the large extension was added and when you just went for drink. The menu has increased over the years and offers everything from sandwiches, rolls, salads (scampi salad is a favourite), through to an extensive range of hot meals. A few specials are listed on the chalkboard. We consider the meals to be 'no frills' English type meals (except for variations on the chalkboard) and are quite plentiful. Prices are average when compared with other pubs offering food. My only gripe is that a larger cup of coffee would be welcome rather than the small type currently used. The pub is ideal for those visiting Five Arches/Foots Cray Meadows, have been visiting the local garden centres, using the local stables or just as a meeting place for friends. It is also ideal for those times when you 'cannot be bothered' to prepare a meal but just want some easy/non fussy eating and a drink. The Staff are friendly and the service is usually good. Recommended for the above reasons.
