“Professional service, good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

Great location, the service was very professional and friendly and rather than the blank is everything ok, you got the sense that they cared about the food and service offered. The food choice was good locally sourced products. Food presentation good and all full of flavour. The prices look a bit higher than other pubs but did feel it was appropriate for food quality and service standards

“Just lovely”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

Had Sunday lunch with friends, service was great and friendly . The environment and atmosphere was superb our food was was delious hot and very well presented. My only criticism would be make extra yorkshires for those wh have a roast but not the beef they are cheap as chips and every one loves a yorkie . Our starters were great and the deserts were divine just a shame no cheese board but assured it will be on the menu soon . Can't wait to go back and try the evening menu. We all enjoyed our experience .

“Birthday party”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

Went to my friend's 60th Birthday Party, and was very impressed by this pub. The food was excellent, lovely and hot, which is important to me, and service to match. The decor was simple and very pleasing, lots of outdoor seating too. I will definitely recommend this to my friends and family, and look forward to visiting again soon.

“excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

We decided we would eat out for a change, we knew the hermit had been under a major refurb, so we thought we'd give it a try. We had previously been in the pub under the previous management, we wasn't impressed with the food or service back then.
How fantastic it was to see such a massive improvement, the manager was so friendly and accommodating, they where fully booked but he found us a table, the food was served promptly by a very pleasant waitress. The food was delightful, the nicest food we'd eaten in a pub for a long time. We are looking forward to trying their Sunday roast in the near future.

Nice to experience such good customer service.

“Great pub and very good food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013

Just had one of the best pub meals ever. For starters we had pea and ham soup, and chicken wings with pearl barley, then sausage and mash, and burger and chips. Deserts were strawberries with mascarpone, and lemon meringue.
Now, that all sounds quite simple -but it's not. Not here, anyway.
Each of these dishes were seriously well cooked and superbly presented. The chips, for instance, were triple-cooked - perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, with a brilliant home-made mustard mayo. The sausages were amongst the finest I've ever had, and the shallot rings were an excellent twist. Lemon meringue was a lemony mouse in a cup, with soft poached meringue on top, caramelised and with shortbread on the saucer. The whole thing looked like a cappuccino - top marks for inventiveness (and it tasted excellent as well!). There's a real enthusiasm for the food here, and it shines through.
Good food, friendly service and very good value - we'll certainly be back!!
