On Friday eveningjust gone, my girlfriend and I chose to dine at The Richard Fox restaurant within Leverhulme Hotel as it was her birthday on the thursday. We were very warmly greated by the receptionist and what seemed to be the Restaurant Manager. Both were very welcoming pleasant. We were shown to the bar where drinks were served and menus given. We were left to enjoy our drink and look over the menu's and chat, which was great, none of the staff were over powering or pushy to take orders. It was very relaxed. The bar was nicely decorated with some art and the seating a mixture of sofas and chairs with light music on in the background whihc complemented the setting and mood and also wasnt too loud or too quiet. Whilst serving our drinks the restaurant manager made polite conversation asking about my girlfriends birthday etc, he took a reall interest which was nice. We then were asked for our order by a waitress you was very polite, chatty and funny. We then left to relax untill called through to the restaurant when our meal was ready.

The restaurant was very elegant with glass tables and candles, the temperature was just right as well. The meal was served excellently by the waitress and each course was checked back. The food was absolutely amazing. My girlfriend has sweet and sour pork which i tasted. The pork melted in your mouth and the flavours complimented it really well, all in balance and the textures were good as well with some crispy skin that also melted after the intitial cruch. My scallops with cauliflower and raisins was to die for. Just excellent. Main courses were lamb which is my girlfriends favourite, she thought the rhubarb and apple garnish was strange to start with but it worked very well and was very surprised. My Coq au vin was excellent. The chicken was really succulent and looked really good on the large slate with a deconstructive element to the dish. I thought that the slates were maybe slightly too big if there was four people on the table, however the dishes did look really good on them.

We weren left to complete our meal with no one hovering and being over atentive but if we had of needed anything if would been very easy to attract help. A sign of good waiting staff.

For desert I pursuaded my girlfriend to have a desert as it was a special occassion, plus I didnt want to eat alone. She had a cherry melba which she was very impressed with and was glad I pursuaded her to have one. I had the white chocolate rice pudding with raspberry. I love rice pudding and white chocolate but thought it might be a bit sickly together. I was wrong. There was just a hint of white chocolate which complemented the rice pudding perfectly. Coffe was offered but we dedlined. There was no rush to be leave either. We were left to enjoy the rest of the drinks. No one wanted to push us out even though we one of the last in the restaurant. We asked for bill and it was promptly brought. We paid at reception and left. All the staff were very good at theirs jobs.

Overall, the experience, food, service and restaurant was top knotch. Definately reccommend to anyone. Yes you pay a bit more than the average restaurant but it is worth so much more. Easily worth the 2 rosette accolade Richard has received.

We went for a relaxed romantic meal and that is what we got. Excellent evening and will be returning soon

We had our Wedding Reception on 2/6/12.

It was a truely amazing day-all the staff were fantastic, and made our day so special in every way. We were driven by one of the owners who was an absolute gentleman helping me in and out of the car (pink rolls royce) with my dress too.

All our guests commented how incredible the venue was and the location. They loved the atmosphere and the modern feel of it.

We had an excellent A* service throughout our Wedding preparations, and the staff fully accomodated our desires...I had bought little decorations for the room which the team all used around the venue to make it more unique to our day.

The food was outstanding and the serving of it by the staff was perfect.

I would recommend this venue to anyone as it was just faultless and Chris and I had an exceptional day. Thankyou very much again to everyone involved in creating our truely special day (Amanda, Donna, Sheree and the rest of the staff)

I will never forget this trip. I asked to watch the footie in the lounge. Left to my own devices I was handed the buttons to scroll through the channel to find BBC3 - I wanted to catch the Ireland game. Imagine my horror when I hit channel 17 to dicover full blown porn (a multi racial gang bang to be precise) showing on a 60in telly with me red faced holding the buttons. I hit the power button as quick as a flash but the damage was done and the kids looked embarrased for me. TAKE IT OFF THE COMMUNIAL TELLY PLEASE. We don't need it. And we don't need full English breakfasts at £22 a head. Saying that the beds were comfy. You advertise as a spar so suggest you get a pool and a gym in place pronto. Phil H

Staff happliy obliged when we asked for more scones with cream & jam! All of the staff were friendly, polit and very obliging. We would not hesitate to arrange another party here.

went to a wedding reception here in May 2012 and have to say it was wonderful. The food was absolutely wonderful, the highest quality, and all the staff were extremely helpful. Highly recommended as a wedding venue. We didn't stay so can't comment on the rooms

This was a surreal experience as we seemed to be the only people staying at the hotel. As a result, it seemed that the hotel had given most of the staff the night off. We'd booked on the Big Daily Deal Offer, only to subsequently discover that the taster menu wasnt available on Sundays. The booking was originally confirmed under Unilever's corporate rate so that should have given us a clue of what was to come. The room was adequate, although there was only one small bottle of shampoo between us and no soap. The bar staff offered us a free taster of the house red prior to dinner and then took the rest of the bottle to our table (so we were paying for the "free" taster anyway). At dinner, menus were dirty with bits of food stuck to them. Choice was extremely limited on the a la carte menu. Desserts, for example, consisted of ice cream, rice pudding and cheeses. And we had to ask for salt and vinegar to go with our chips as there was none on the tables. The deal included continental breakfast but we could upgrade to full cooked breakfast which i did. I should have had porridge, waffles and then a choice of hot meals but was just offered a full english - no salt or sauces available on the table and no staff to ask. The carpet in the breakfast room looked like it needed a clean as well. No doubt there's a completely differrent atmosphrer and level of service when there are more customers, but whilst the food was good the overall experience was disappointing surreal. It seemed that we got the bare minimum level of service required under the contract.

We had our wedding here, from start to finish we were looked after incredibly well.
The staff couldn't do enough for us, we felt like royalty.
Our room and our guests rooms were fantastic, complete with modern twists.
The hotel is a little hidden gem that is well worth a visit, and the food and afternoon tea is delicious.
