Great beach however ruined by inconsiderate day trippers leaving rubbish including dirty nappies. The marine lake is a great place for water sports. There are plenty of local shops and food stalls... Overall nice but the town could do with a face lift....

This is our favourite place for walking our dogs and come here most days. Gets very busy on nice days. West Kirby is a lovely town with lots of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. I disagree with the comments below about the lack of cafes as there are at least 6 within a 5 minute walk of Morrisons, 2 of them being opposite! The beach is nice and clean and when the tide is out you can walk across to Hilbre Island. It's further than it looks though (approx 1 mile) so check the tide times as it is easy to get caught out and become stranded as the tide comes in quickly. You see some amazing sunsets down here and often see keen photographers out with their cameras set up on the promenade waiting to snap a perfect photograph.

Location and views accross the Dee to North Wales! And back over the Wirral. The pathway takes you right above the Dee.

West Kirby Marine Lake has long been a mecca for dnghy sailing and in more recent years for windsurfers. In the 1960s part of the lake was fenced off as an outdoor swimming pool but fell into disrepair and was demolished. Remanents of it are still seen near the sailing club end of the lake. It is a ver popular venue for fternoon strollers who walkaround the lake when the tide is out or on neap tides. The big spring tides cover the lake wall and the lake becomes an extension of the River Dee. There are lovely views across to the Welsh Hills and the Hilbre Islands across the sands at the north end of the lake. When the wind is blowing it can be a bracing walk taking about an hour to circumnavigate.
