We called in to the Dog & Duck on spec' and as expected it was full. The Manageress found our party of four a table and we perused the menus, even though we knew them quite well. I had Tiger prawns for a starter, served as kebabs with crispy fresh vegetable garnish. Our mains were just as good, I had a rib eye which was more tender than most fillets (and much sweeter, you can't beat a nice rib-eye) with heaps of chips and a delicious Diane sauce which the Head chef Nick is well known for. My wife's duck was pronounced perfect and served just as you expect - pink. The mixed grill was enormous and excellent value.

Despite huge portions we managed deserts - a treacle sponge came served in an empty Lyles Golden Syrup can and the tiramisu was very well presented in a glass cup and saucer. A couple of bottles of Malbec wine and some San Miguel washed it all down and for £156 for four was good value. The menu we knew well, nothing new and none of it was pretentious. Just good portions and every item just perfect. This was FAR better than pub food and we shall definitely be back. Hopefully soon!

Took my sister and husband for their 40th wedding anniversary and they loved it! The team in the restaurant made a special effort and the food was really good; there is a wide choice. Wine reasonably priced and a good selection of beers. Dining in the bar is the same menu and The Dog and Duck has a great outdoor area by the way.

Visited after hearing positives from friends.

The pub has nice cosy tables with some great comfy chairs.

The menu is unpretentious pub grub, not trying to be fancy Michelin just doing food well.

I had duck as a main and it was cooked well served with tasty vegetables.

The seafood pasta has great mussels, chunks of fish and a large crawfish.

Staff seemed friendly, food took about 15 mins.

Good value with large portions.

Will visit again.

This pub offers better than average pub food, well presented with good service .
Real ale is offered , real chips, and interesting daily specials .
Waiter service is a bonus at these posh pub prices.
Give the pub a try especially on a fine day in the good beer garden .

The barmaids are excellent although having encountered the landlord his attitude is appaling to his excellent staff. Puts us off returning. Shame on you.
