We have just returned from spending half term at Broadgate Farm cottages . This was our second visit ,having spent a week In October at the Stables ( as reviewed below ) . This visit was spent at the Granary as we needed the extra bedroom for my parents.
Yet again we have a super , relaxing week . Like the Stables , the Granary is beautifully presented . It has a very large lounge -diner downstairs with very comfy seteas; and a beautiful log burner . The separate fully equipped kitchen has everything you could ask for and there is a downstairs cloakroom.. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms with a master ensuite and family bathroom.
The washing machine meant i could yet again catch up with my student sons washing !! and on days it was too wet to hang outside there was even an airer provided .!
The cottage was beautiful and warm with underfloor heating , ajustable in all rooms as well as the log burner . The first basket of logs is free and thereafter 5 pound a basket though I must admit we did bring our own bag of logs to use.
Yet again we didnt hear any road noise and had lovley nights sleep in the very comfertable beds.
There is so much to do in the area it just cant all be listed - we went as far as Scarborough one day and to York another day ( both less than an hour away ) We had one beautiful sunny day just walking on the Westwood Common into Beverley but its just as nice to sit and chill in the cottage reading or playing one of the Board games provided.
Our only 2 negative points of the holiday were 1) the early check out (10.00 am ) .. We hate rushing about in the mornings on holiday and 2) our extremely selfish new neighbours staying at the Barn who arrived on our last night . We hadnt heard a peep out of our 'old' neighbours all week but on our last evening a new group arrived who proceeded to spent the evening shouting , slamming doors , screaming and then singing at the top of their voices . At 2330hrs the 'singing' was so loud it was preventing my mum (in the bedroom closest to The Barn ) from sleeping so we banged very loudly on the wall and it finally stopped !! So glad they werent our neighbours all week !!!!
Apart from those 2 points we had yet another very enjoyable week .. my dad loved the 2 days he stayed there and my mum loved her full week ...and yes , we will be back for a 3rd visit :)
