On holiday in the area,we were recommended to visit this cafe while visiting the town of Castle Douglas the previous day. We had never been to New Galloway before, but found the tearoom easily. We arrived a bit too early, but the lady there offered to "put the kettle on" and make us a cuppa! (even though they were`nt officially open for another half hour) We opted for a recommended walk round the village, and then returned. WOW! what a great place. The decor is sort of Edwardian? belle epoque style, and quite wonderful. Beautifully laid out with lace tablecloths and great attention to detail. The food? well, just fantastic! We had home-made soup and roll, (and it obviously was homemade) beautifully served in old fashioned china,( as was everything else.) There was an amazing selection of cakes, how to choose?!! Needless to say, they were really good as well. A fine selection of teas and coffees, properly served in vintage teapots, with hot water, and even a small cloth to hold the hot metal pot handle whilst pouring your brew! Excellent!
If you are in the area, a must visit.
