Description: The history surrounding Kitty's has made it unique, being set in a Victorian house, built by a retired sea captain circa 1840. The Captain commisioned local carpenters to put in place the wonderful panelled ceiling, removed from a ship which was broken up in nearby Palnackie Harbour. The origional panneled ceiling and walls, still survive to this day and I'm sure you'll agree the workmanship was second to none. Kitty is privilaged to own and run this small family buisness in such beautiful surroundings. And looks forward to welcoming you. OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK FROM EASTER WEEKEND TO BEGINING OF NOVEMBER.

On holiday in the area,we were recommended to visit this cafe while visiting the town of Castle Douglas the previous day. We had never been to New Galloway before, but found the tearoom easily. We arrived a bit too early, but the lady there offered to "put the kettle on" and make us a cuppa! (even though they were`nt officially open for another half hour) We opted for a recommended walk round the village, and then returned. WOW! what a great place. The decor is sort of Edwardian? belle epoque style, and quite wonderful. Beautifully laid out with lace tablecloths and great attention to detail. The food? well, just fantastic! We had home-made soup and roll, (and it obviously was homemade) beautifully served in old fashioned china,( as was everything else.) There was an amazing selection of cakes, how to choose?!! Needless to say, they were really good as well. A fine selection of teas and coffees, properly served in vintage teapots, with hot water, and even a small cloth to hold the hot metal pot handle whilst pouring your brew! Excellent!
If you are in the area, a must visit.

Popped into Kitty's Tearoom for lunch while in D&G on holiday, very decorative and the staff where very pleasant and welcoming. Food was simple but well presented and delicious. Would recommend this establishment & will be going again next time we pass through New Galloway.

We were revisiting the Galloway area and discovered our usual refuelling stops were closed. Remembering Kitty's from the previous year we headed there, an extra 20 miles on our route. They were serving Sunday Lunch. We explained that the 4 of us were only after something light. Following a conversation with their chef the waitress agreed they could squeeze us in and do us toasties. Despite them being busy with the lunch covers the toasties and tea arrived promptly. Absolutely delicious and well worth the 20 mile detour! Excellent quality and value for money.
Linen table cloths and the wood panelling salvaged from some grand ship adds to the ambience of this little gem.
