We stayed here for one night while exploring the local area. The booking was made at short notice and the dinner, B&B deal seemed very good value. We were accommodated in a ground floor room in the Coach House building - with our Labrador. The accommodation was good; clean, compact and well-equipped. I believe that the rooms in the main building are of a higher standard. However, quite rightly, they are not best suited to those with dogs.

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and after some local exploration we were looked after by Andi in the bar, before dinner. We savoured some delicious canapés with our drinks. There is a talented team in the kitchen producing excellent food. The menu is reassuringly short but the choice is tantalising. We just managed to deal with three courses and all were excellent. I particularly enjoyed the sweetbreads to start with. There are some interesting wines to choose from and an extended mortgage is not required to enjoy these. The wine choice and pricing is very good indeed.

Breakfast was a leisurely and enjoyable affair and we were looked after by Alison, the other half of the partnership responsible for this remarkably good country house hotel. No buffet breakfast nonsense here!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. Next time I would like to try the taster menu and further explore the output of their very talented young chef.

Alison and Andi are doing some very good things in the House at Temple Sowerby and I would strongly recommend a visit, either to stay or to eat; but both would be best.

Stayed over Easter break. From start to finish could not fault the food, customer service and accommodation. Loved the Easter egg hunt. Exceptional attention to detail made our experience so much more than a standard break from home. Alison and Andy should be really proud of what they have achieved in the way they look after their guests. Will definitely stay with them again. Gill and Paul

I had Sunday lunch here on March 10th. Wow what lovely food and great service. I'm coming back for the food, the beef was outstanding. The staff were happy and couldn't do enough to help . The hotel is very close to centre Parc and I had my eldest son and his family there for the week so got the chance to see them for lunch

Dear Lakeman20, many apologies that the response that we drafted, for some reason, did not appear. We are always very grateful that our guests take the time to post a review and particularly one as outstanding as yours.

Sunday lunch is something that we started at the beginning of this year and has proved to be extremely popular. The beef has been a big hit since the first week.

We hope to see you again soon.

Kind regards, The House team.

Andi and Alison were excellent hosts and we would thoroughly recommend a stay here. They went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and relaxed and nothing was too much trouble. The open fires, the warm welcome, the delicious food and the outstanding service will live in our memories for a long time. We look forward to returning in the summer with our family and friends. One of the best hotels we have stayed in. If in the area, do not pass this hotel by.
