“Beautiful grounds, Grand house”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

We arrived late so we didn't get to go inside the house but we were very happy with just seeing the beautiful grounds and retracing the steps of Mr Darcy and Elizabeth. This place is a must for all P&P fans and even if you haven't watched the series you'll still the love seeing the historic house and grounds. We didn't pay to get into the grounds but there is a fee for the house and other areas.

“Expansive grounds for a safe walk in the countryside”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Visited purely to enjoy a walk. There are leaflets available from the carpark ticket office detailing 4 walks - a 30 minute stroll, a 60 minute walk, and 2 x 90 minute walks. All are within the grounds of the property on well trodden routes. Although many people were equipped for 'proper' walking, we did fine in warm clothes and wellies. Some of the routes will be suitable for more rugged pushchairs, but I imagine wheelchairs would struggle.

We took the longer route today, and were rewarded with beautiful views over Stockport into Manchester, passed through pastures full of deer, crossed a few streams and wandered through woods. Despite remaining within the grounds of the property it almost felt like genuine countryside walking, without the need for careful journey planning.

At the end of the walk you can settle down to a warm drink and a cake, or a more substantial meal, but be warned the queues can be large on popular days and there isn't sufficient seating. Many braved the outdoor tables but it proved too cold for us!

“Lovely day out”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

Very nice for a walk, lots to explore.

National Trust so have to pay to go in have triend parking inside and outside. Bit far too walk when parking outside the park so you have to bite the bullet and pay unfortunately.

Not a cyclist myself but seems a lot of them there as expected, seems a really good place for a bike ride. Also a nice cafe to have a drink along with a big castle which is nice to visit at the top of the hill with some staff inside who can give you facts and the history behind it.
