Upon hearing from Duxford locals about new management, I tentatively took my three year old to The Plough in Duxford in mid October 2012, for a treat for the two of us, and a treat it most definitely was. They do a "Golden Age" deal on Tuesday lunchtimes which meant that we had many lovely OAP's for company and the atmosphere in this inviting old pub was wonderful.
The food was, in my opinion, as excellent as the competition in Duxford, with generous portion sizes for exceptional value, and the service was second to none.
We could have easily enjoyed a whole afternoon in there rather than just a couple of warm, lovely hours. I would most definitely recommend a visit to anyone and everyone (particularly if you haven't been since the new management took over judging by some of the previous ratings).

We were in Duxford for the day and decided to look on Tripadvisor for a recommended eating establishment in the area. Upon arrival, we were informed that there would be no food until Tuesday. ???

Somewhat typical of a country pub/restaurant, we found the dining area a little cramped but the service and food was quite faultless. We thought that the menu, understandably for the situation, was a little restricted but, for a country Inn, priced a little on the high side but we enjoyed our experience and would certainly use the Plough again if we were in the area.

We visited with a Groupon Voucher. There was only one girl running both the bar and the restaurant. It turned out that she had only started there the day before and it was the owner's night off! She was charming and did her very best to keep all the balls in the air. There was a lightshade missing, causing a glare of a picture light. The candles on the tables remained unlit. We were not offered any coffee at the end of our meal. The 'thai fish cakes' were a couple of very small frozen ones with a cheap bottled chilli sauce. The salad served with our fish was limp and the tomato slices in partuicular were floppy and watery; obviously it had been hanging around for some time. The plates were cold and the chops floury. (The fish was good.) The puddings were tepid, stale and grossly overpriced - they were sponge puddings. To cap it all, halfway through the meal we were invaded by a large group who had been football traning, took over the bar (which is an integral part of the restaurant), demanded that the televisions be switched on and ordered multiple bowls of chips, whilst talking in very loud boorish voices including profanities! The poor girl simply couldn't cope and we felt very sorry for her. We left her a tip, emphasising that it was for her alone. No one else deserved anything. We shall not be returning!
