Took the CO to the John Barleycorn in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, for the weekend. It wasn't our first visit, as we have been captivated by the pub and its charming staff for some time.
The pub offers an impressive menu, which changes regularly and, every Sunday, serves up what must be some of the best roast dinners for miles around.
The Barleycorn offers a wide variety of beers and fine wines and the staff will go to almost any lengths to ensure your stay is memorable.
The rooms are clean and spacious and the beds comfortable.
The pub has a lot of aviation links, as it is near the Imperial War Museum at RAF Duxford, and has much aviation memorabilia.
I believe the pub used to be a watering hole for wartime RAF pilots stationed at Duxford, a base which played a significant role in the Battle of Britain.
Booking at weekends, especially for food, I would say is essential as the pub's reputation has travelled and it gets extremely busy.
