Having used the Red Lion for a successful AGM in 2013, we were happy to rebook for 2014. The high standards we found last year were again evident. Prior arrangements were made smoothly by e-mail with an efficient events manager who always responded quickly. On the day, the meeting room was arranged exactly as requested with loads of coffee and biscuits for the members of our group. Lunches were pre-ordered before the meeting started at 10.30, and 25 meals of a high standard were served promptly and charmingly by Agate, Jasmine and Tash. Our members were unanimous in their wish to rebook the Red Lion for our 2015 AGM, and this has already been done.

Very convenient as next to the train station with excellent connection into cambridge. Booked a living social voucher and paid for an upgrade. Room was a nice size and beds very comfortable , considering the location minimal noise from the busy road or station, however very noisy from the room above. The shower door came off when it was opened and closed . The shower tray didn't drain well and scum returned from the plug hole and floated around your feet. Bathroom tiny but ok however the only place to put toiletries was on the floor. Evening meal was ...ok.. However the breakfast was shockingly poor... Tea and coffee facilities in the room were extensive with decaf tea and coffee and one breakfast tea bag, no milk...

Room Tip: Pay for an upgrade.. For a larger room. Very convenient to park your car and use the train into camb...

Just returned from a two night stay at the Red Lion in Whittlesford Bridge, Duxford .
Right next door to a one stop from Cambridge train station it is the ideal place to
stay for zipping in to town without the hassle of parking etc. The rooms although
on the small size are well equipped and the beds are comfy and hot water no problem.
the restaurant was busy both nights so suggests it's popular, good menu especially the
grill section and the staff were efficient and polite . The managers obviously know how
to run this business well.

Room Tip: if you are tall then suggest you ask for a room with sufficient ceiling height.

we stayed here on a living social deal and had a wonderful time. We left the car and caught the train to Cambridge. After a lovely day sightseeing we returned to the hotel. Everything was very pleasant, the room, the staff, the bar,the food - we couldn't fault anything and will definately return.

Our daughter was married at the Red Lion on February 21st and ourselves and all of the guests were delighted with the day. From the very first meeting over a year in advance, we were impressed with the staff's friendly and professional manner. Despite a number of staff changes, each time we visited we were still treated courteously and we always felt that our wishes and ideas were given priority by a venue that really valued our business. One particular advantage was being able to have the ceremony, celebration and accommodation all in one place, especially in a location with such character.

On the day itself we were given every assistance with planning and setting out of decorations, people were always on hand to help and everyone knew what to do. Laura-Jayne and Oliver ensured that nothing was overlooked and everything ran to plan. The food was splendid, including a number of special dietary requirements, all catered for with ease.

The hotel layout was ideal for our event, with plenty of room for the festivities, but also areas in the bar & dining room where groups could congregate for quiet conversation. The hotel's own PA system was made available for our own selection of music, and was more than equal to the task. The adjoining Holiday Inn Express was ideal for larger parties and also those with mobility issues; the rooms in the older main building are more quaint and irregular, with steps and stairs, as is to be expected in a 500 year old property. Although the rail station is alongside, we weren't disturbed by the trains.

Breakfast is very good, excellent sausages and bacon, and quick service with the hot food. The bar has a great choice of beers, and proper coffee too. The bride and groom are getting a complimentary stay on their first anniversary, and we feel certain that they will be treated to the same exemplary service. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience for us all and we have no hesitation in recommending the Red Lion at Whittlesford Bridge for wedding celebrations.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a wardrobe if you especially need one, as not every room in the main building ca...

lovely old pub dating back 500yrs .This was gift from our daughter for Christmas. Had an evening meal which was not included but was very good and plenty of it.Nice free bottle of wine to go with it ,also very good .Breakfast included which tasted delicious beautiful sausages. Very nice staff very polite and helpful. The pub has been renovated tastefully and simply. However the bedroom we were given was far too small for 2 people. If you suffered from clostrophobia you would have suffered .It was spotless and bed was comfortable but the room and bed are too small for 2 people unless you were extremely thin and even then you would struggle .It is called a cosy double so just be aware of that when you book .I was worried about noise of trains as it is right near railway line but for me the room was disappointing just because of it's size if I had not gone on a groupon voucher I would have had to change rooms.
