We stayed two nights during the Rewind Festival. The staff were friendly and helpful the room was very clean and comfortable. There is some minor traffic noise but it didn't keep us awake or was particularly noticeable in the room. We didn't have dinner but breakfast was excellent.
Wifi was free and very good.

Me and my husband stayed here for the first time last weekend for our anniversary and will most definatly return! We stayed for 2 nights in a beautiful room (room 1 I think it think it was) and had a lovely meal. I chose the lamb as it was recommended by the host and it was a great choice! It had a lovely flavour and was cooked perfectly! After reading reviews I don't understand how the host could be discribed as unfriendly as she was so welcoming and very helpful, especially with the wine as we was both a bit clueless in that section! We will definatly be back!

Over all the facilities and staff excellent along with the beautiful surrounding countryside and walks, food outstanding - compliments to the chef/s. Stayed in a Carriage room spacious & clean. However the only down side is the room was so close to the main road which was busy though out the night. Road noise travelled through the room and a motorbike/s were up and down the road some several times ended up being shattered from lack of sleep due to the traffic noise. Not that it was a major concern the TV was small for the size of the room and not all the channels worked and no guide on how to use the TV or information explaining the limited availability of certain channels such as ITV. The young lady at check out had asked how was our stay and I explained the above (barr the TV issue) to which was meet with the response "it's not a complaint they ever had before." Light sleeper was mentioned and I stated I live not far from a rail track and I actually slept better and added it’s such a shame as everything else was so brilliant and I added may be if something could be done it would be to sound proof the room.
Due to the traffic noise issues feel the room was over priced for the location so close to the road. Would we stay again? - Only if the room was sound proofed or maybe one which is further from the roadside may be better. If this where the case we would have no hesitation in rating with 5 Stars and would consider it value for money.

It was my Mother-in-laws 70th birthday so as a treat we book this restaurant. Their website clearly offered the deal as per photo attached. We arrived and were a little disappointed with our table as it was 10ft away from the main A4130 and at 7.00pm it was very busy with fast moving traffic.

Just prior to placing our order we checked we had the correct menu for the offer - £27.50 for three courses - and were told it was not available and not shown on the website.

My smart phone confirmed the offer but the management would not honor the offer although the restaurant was empty. We were charged for our drinks and made to feel it was our fault.

A three course meal for £27.50 mid week is not exactly good value so for them not to honor their published offer was disgraceful.

Managed to get a last minute booking during the very busy period of the Henley regatta. We took our pet dog with us as it was impossible to find anywhere to board her at the time. The staff at the Black Boys Inn were wonderful, allowing us to bring her along and offering to walk her whilst they clean our room. We thought the gesture was above and beyond what one would expect from a b&b and would once again like to thank the staff for the additional effort. Traffic can be a nightmare during regatta season and not having to rush back over lunch meant we could enjoy our day without worrying about our pet. The room was great however the light over the basin didn't work and the room required a bit more dusting, that said these small things certainly didn't detract from our stay and are easily rectifiable. We hope to return again next year! PS: breakfast was great with the eggs coming directly from the chickens kept at the inn!

Nice restaurant in fact superb food both dinner and wonderful breakfast but the stay was disappointing. The rooms are fine if they were half the price but £155 bnb for a tiny room with weeny shower and WC room with no opening window was over the top. Bed was clean but some areas were very dusty and the TV had that burning dust smell. Wardobe is minute too.
Front of house was unwelcoming; we asked her name as we like to be friendly rather than Mr and Mrs but she didnt see why we needed to know that!! We sat in the garden with the menu and were t'sked at for not being ready to order within a few minutes. We asked to remain in the garden to eat as it was a wonderful evening and the view is superb but we were told that dinner was only served inside - strange, as our accompanying friends had eaten outside only the night before. BTW we asked our young breakfast waitress her name and she was happy to give it so its not a house rule. Its a shame that such good food is let down like this.

Room Tip: The stairs to get up are a pfaff but if youre on the ground floor you get the cigarette smoke from t...

As the heading says this is a restaurant with rooms so the emphasis is on the food rather than the accommodation.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner here. Fresh quality produce, well cooked, nicely presented, good choice & appropriately priced. We could not fault the food.

However, our room was cold & one of the wardrobe shelves was broken. The inn is on a busy main road & we were disturbed by traffic nose during the night.

I would definitely recommend the restaurant & would choose to dine here again if we were in the area but I would choose to stay somewhere quieter.

Dee090…….3/5 is certainly not the score we are trying to achieve and on reading your review, it is clear that there were some highlights and some low lights too. For these I thank you and offer my apologies for not achieving what I know we usually do well.

All your comments have been shared with the team, lest we sit back and rest on our laurels.
I am particularly pleased to read your comments about the “Lovely Diner, fresh quality produce and appropriate pricing”.

I have spoken to the manager on duty during your two night stay, and it is such a shame that some of your concerns were not raised with us at the time as we would have done our utmost to rectify the situation.

With regard to the room not being warm enough, please let me first apologise. My manager informed me that an extra room heater had been provided on your request during the second night of your stay, and when a member of staff returned to check that the room was now warm enough the heater had been turned off, thus the presumption that the problem had been solved. There was clearly a breakdown in communication for which I offer my sincere apologies.

I do hope to welcome you back when you are next in the area and showcase what I know we are good at, not just the food and wine!

Kindest regards
