“back to Beck Hall”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Just back from our fourth visit to Beck Hall, and enjoyed it just as much as the first visit. We love the peace and charm of this pretty B abd B which feels like home as soon as you walk through the door. The breakfasts are really good followed by some beautiful walks right on the doorstep.Janets Fosse, Gordale and Malham Cove all beautiful at different times of the year, followed by relaxing in the lounge with a roaring log fire.BLISS.If you want five star luxury then this is not the place for you, but if you want olde worlde charm, clean and comfy bedrooms and staff who will do anything to make your stay perfect then give Beck Hall a visit.Thankyou Alice, Steve, Tom and Charlotte for another great stay, and hope to revisit again soon.

Room Tip: Some rooms are four poster beds. We have tried three different ones. Two in the new wing and two in...

We have just had a two night stay here and loved it. Both staff and owners were helpful and pleasant. The bedroom (four poster) was lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and lovely with plenty of choice. We enjoy walking and Beck Hall is an excellent base. Both of the local pubs serve nice meals. I'm mainly vegetarian and found The Lister Arms had best choice for me. We will definitely return and recommend without hesitation.

we stayed at this hotel for a couple of days in a wet november, the staff were very friendly, and breakfast was good home cooked food, we stayed in room 10 in the annexe, the room was very clean and warm, lovely shower room, plenty ducks outside in the evening, we arrived when it was dark car park is not next to hotel but only a hundred or so metres away, you have to cross a stream/ small river to access the hotel by a small bridge which is not easy when slippy and wet but this was explained when booking, enjoyable stay, lovely log fire in lounge.

Room Tip: ask for annexe

A lovely old house with fantastic staff, relaxing, comfortable and welcoming. The breakfast was very good, with all local produce. The walk to the village pub each evening with torches as there are no street lights was like going back in time!
We loved staying

Stayed here over a year ago but never got round to writing a review, but being in the area at the weekend prompted me to do so as I was recalling my unpleasant experience to my boyfriend.
This place was listed in the brochure of a Marks and Spencer Weekend Break Experience bought as a gift so I fully expected it to pretty top notch. How disappointing.
I stayed in a four poster bedroom in the old hall wing and had a dreadful night's sleep. I suffer from asthma which is well under control and only brought on by damp and animal hair. In the morning, with nautural day light lighting up the room and I could see pet hairs on the furnishings and the wallpaper around the window sills was peeling off due to damp. I did complain at reception and was offered money off my next visit but I had no intention of visiting again.
Breakfast was disappointing and the young man who was collecting the dishes and laying the tables actually turned my stomach when I saw him pick his nose then wipe a dirty fork from one of the tables on his t shirt and place it back on the table. After seeing that I couldn't stomach another thing!
Beck Hall is in lovely area and maybe the newer rooms are far superior but having said that, I do wonder about the cleanliness after what I witnessed.
Definitelly would not return.

Your experience must have been truly dreadful to post this so long after your stay. We are very sorry that your experience was so obviously bad. We find it hard to believe what you describe to the point we wouldn't recognise this as Beck Hall or the people who work here. Having said that replies can be contradictory or laden with excuses. This is not the intention of our comments.
In the last 2 years we have worked very hard to update our accommodation, improve our breakfast offering and our guest experience in a general way. The room in question along with all the other rooms in the older part of the building where co-incidentally redecorated just over a year ago, now painted not wallpapered. Recent reviews would generally support our efforts to improve in all aspects. We will continue to improve wherever we can and comments are always valuable good or bad. We are truly sorry that you had this experience, finally please rest assured that if anyone here behaved in the way you describe at breakfast, or any other time they would not be working here long!!
