This is a fantastic family run Hotel/Resturant.... Great home made pasta, lake fish and many other items on a varied menu.

“No Contest for this Clear Winner of Worst Italian Food of the Trip”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

Referred by the Lenno Hotel, R. Plinio was the worst dinner we've had in Italy in three weeks, perhaps 10 years. The mixed fish antipasti was mediocre, with canned mussels, mini shrimps soaked in mayo, etc but edible. Then came the 'fatto di casa' tagliatelle ..thick, heavy, doughy and completely tasteless, whether with the shriveled up dried out raddichio or the Bolognese. Upon requesting Parmesan, a container of Kraft like long ago shaven microplaned cheese appeared, no fresh cheese, no grating over the pasta. But, the worst was yet to come. Fresh lake fish, simply grilled in butter and sage and a side of seasonal vegetables. Joke. A tiny dried out butterflied fish arrived with stale flavors that couldn't have been caught in the past week. One bite for each of us, and we left it all. Ditto for the four vegetables. Spinach cooked to the consistency of a dried sponge; baby carrots with watery consistency that tasted canned, as did the limp green beans. Only the boiled thinly sliced quarter of a single potato tasted like what it looked like. I though I was eating failed molecular cuisine where the objects were not what they appeared to be. Though in very unItalian fashion, we left the entire fish and the vegetables, two of our plates full, the staff stayed in Italian form, not questioning why. No offer to substitute, replace, provide a complimentary dessert, or make no charge for the fish and vegetables. We paid the bill, most disappointed at this lack of caring about their patrons, but far more disappointed by the bad tastes in our mouths.http://c1.tacdn.com/img2/x.gif

“Great pasta”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

Loved this restaurant. Other places were closed so we tried this place. What a pleasant surprise. The food was great and very reasonable for the location. I was cold outside so we ate inside and was very classy. Did not have a personal touch but the food made up for it. I would recommend this restaurant.

“Best Osso Bucco ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2012

We chanced upon this stunning restaurant at lunchtime in September. All outside tables were taken so we sat inside which was fine. The service was amazing- quick, efficient and friendly.
My husband had the Osso Bucco and declared it the best he has ever eaten. The price is very reasonable we both had two courses, wine and coffe for Euros55.
The setting is breathtaking and the family who run this place have put so much effort into everything. Someone is obviously crafty as there are embroidered towels in the bathroom and hand made lace pictures upstairs.
Don't miss it.
