It is rare that I cannot find fault with a hotel but on this occasion I cannot. The Hotel Palarine is quite simply superb. A real gem and a perfect base for a skiing holiday. It is in Erts which is down the hill from the Gondolas in Arinsal that take to you up to the ski slopes but this is never a problem as there is a regular free bus which stops very near to the hotel and drops you at the Gondola station and only takes about 5 minutes.
We had booked fairly late and it is always a leap of faith on choosing a hotel. We had never been to Andorra before or knew anything about Arinsal apart from what we had read on the internet. It was the great reviews on Trip Advisor that persuaded to pick this hotel. The reviews were not wrong.
Arrival and check in were straight forward, the usual process of giving credit card details for any extras/bar bills etc. We had chosen a quad room even though there were only 3 of us, as it was the same price. The room was much bigger than we had anticipated with an entry hall with the large bathroom leading off. The room itself was simply furnished with tiled floors and both the room and the bathroom were immaculately clean and remained so for the rest of the week. There was ample storage space in the room to hang all our clothes and ski wear. White Linen on the beds and plenty of extra pillows if need be. The room has a wide screen television, which we hardly used as we were out all day skiing. The bathroom again was simple and as I mentioned very large. There was always plenty of really hot water throughout the day and evening. So it was never an issue to take a shower or have a hot bath to ease your aching muscles after a long day on the slopes. Fresh towels were provided on request, like many hotels by simply putting the used ones in the bath in the morning.
The public areas of the hotel were again always immaculate. There is seating and tables in the reception area with plenty of information about the area, a very nice bar with an open fire and comfy chairs and the restaurant.
The restaurant brings me on to the food! Well what can I say - AMAZING!! We were on a half board basis and every single meal was beyond our expectations. Both breakfast and dinner are buffet style. Breakfast was truly excellent. Full English Breakfast, Cold Meats, Cheese, Cereals, Toast, Croissants, Juices, Coffee (which was very good) Tea - the whole works and as much as you could eat. The breakfast set you up for the whole day on the slopes.
Then to the dinners - every night has a different theme. We arrived on a Sunday so it was a Roast Dinner followed by Catalan, International, Italian, Chinese, Indian and TexMex. Every meal was excellent, especially the Chinese and the Indian. You couldn't eat better anywhere so it was like having a different restaurant every night. The food was all freshly cooked to the highest standards and if one dish ran out within a few minutes it was replenished. I really am struggling to find enough superlatives for the food. There was never an evening when it didn't meet the previous nights stunning food.
All the staff in the Hotel Palarine were always warm and welcoming. It is owned and run by Maria and Graham who are always around and it has a very lovely family feel to it.
I could go on singing the virtues of hotel as it really made our holiday. It is truly a little gem. Many of the other guests had stayed there multiple times before and we have already said that we will go back and I can't recommend it highly enough!
Thank you to Maria, Graham, the Staff at the Hotel Palarine. Perfection!
