“What a place!”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

I loved this place from the moment I walked in! Great building, great architecture, this place was lovingly restored by the owners. The rooms are really nice and comfortable, (there is even a bath in the room!) The dining room is awesome- super high ceilings and huge windows give this place a grand style. The owner loves his wine, make sure that you order a bottle!
Breakfast is an experience itself! The owners would offer you anything you could possibly think off.
Big part of the beauty of the place are the storks which could be seen from the dining room. I loved the huge binoculars and the book of observations. The whole place seems to be buzzing with the storks stories and observations.

Great place and great people!

After arriving to the hotel we were surprised by inside architecture of the penzion. Its builded inside chapel ( Kaple means chapel in Czech language) . It was a shame that it was so cold inside chapel so we cant have a breakfast in there :( we should visit this place in summer! Welcome drink or cake (for abstinents) was very nice. Rooms were small but cozy with its own bathroom. Maybe only puting some shower or shampoo to the showers will definetly help. Breakfast was very good and service fast and nice.

It is very nice little hotel on very nice spot. It is located just couple meters from entrance to Zdar monastery/castle a it is on walking distance from incredible pilgrimage baroque church Zelená Hora (Green Mountain). It is build in former St.Margarita chapel, and it is build with great taste and invention. There is nice café, and it is possible to sit inside of "chapel" or in beautiful surrounding garden which is decorated by ceramic art object created by land-lady. Everything has nice atmosphere and hotel and café is served by nice people, often owners of this place. I had room Nr.2, which is very unusual room, located most likely in place where organs of former chapel were located. Room has nice furniture, and there is fully equipped kitchen. The only small issue was occasional noise from street and I would strongly recommend owners to change hangers in wardrobe to something more representative.

I am reluctant to share this place for fear that next time I go there it will be jammed with people. But, the world should know about this place. It is adjoined to an old Monestary with a beautiful church on the grounds. The architecture is stunning. The interior has a massively high ceiling, huge windows, and beautiful wooden staircase to the rooms upstairs. I had a U-shaped suite, shaped in a circle like the building itself. There was a small kitchen, sittling area with large sofa, a big TV, and a wonderful double bed set into a natural recess in the outer wall. The bathroom was fully modern and immaculate. The breakfasts here are really to die for. You order off of a menu but that is only for starters. They just keep bringing you crepes, cakes, yogurt until you have to politely decline. Prices are really reasonable for this quality of place. The staff is friendly and helpful, although English is almost non-existent. The only negatives is that parking is a bit down the street, and they could use some proper soaps for the bathrooms.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so go for a room on the second floor.

This small 9 room hotel is clearly a labor of love - everything is done with utmost care, good taste, and in a first-class manner. Our room had a comfortable bed, bathroom with one of the best showers ever and elegantly was decorated. A common area had a roaring fire, places to sit and a small kitchen. The service could not have been better, even linen tablecloths and napkins at breakfast. The small garden is adjacent to the castle, a telescope was focused at a stork nest atop one of the chimneys. The pilgrimage church of St. John Nepomuck, a UNESCO world heritage site, is a few steps away.
The down side: only one room does not require climbing a flight of stairs and there was an enormous bathtub in the room - we would have preferred a little sitting area.
This is was a truly memorable stay, we'd go out of our way to come back.

Room Tip: Find out whether you need to climb one or two flights of stairs.

didn't book ahead but got a room on spec, able to view rooms before deciding, ours was small but clean with en suite shower room, fine for one night but if staying longer may want to have bigger room.

It has a communal seating area, kitchen and garden so can self cater if you want, they don't do evening meal but suggest the restaurant just down the road over the bridge.

In October cafe which acts as reception for the pension is only open fri, sat, sun so we were lucky to arrive on ones of those days otherwise wouldn't have found anyone in. Obviously if you are organized and book ahead this isn't a problem.

The vibe here is very very peaceful. Rooms are large and unique owing to the start of this penzion as a monastery. There is a peaceful courtyard in back and a bar that serves wine til at least 8pm. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom modern. And there is a kitchenette to boot. Highly recommend this pension if it is on your route thru Czech Republic (but also if it isn't!).

Room Tip: Room 2 has a great view of the garden and is huge and comfortable.
