“Cosy little B&B with friendly hosts and lovely food!”
Reviewed July 18, 2011

My friend and I stayed at this lovely B&B before having a day at Champneys. We had separate rooms and both found them very clean, cosy and well equipped. Heather and Peter (the hosts) were extremely hospitable and couldn't do enough for us. We were offered tea and cake which is always a winning combination. I stayed in the green room and the bed was very cosy and the shower was lovely. The breakfast offered everything you could want. Would definitely recommend this and would stay again as the location is great.

Excellent B & B !!
Clean, tidy, warm, good hosts, good food and probably the most comfortable bed in the World ? (Green room heated mud bed)
Green room is great - fantastic shower and wonderful bed.
Highly recommended.
Went for a week - stayed 16 months, so hopefully that tells you all you need to know.

We stayed at Fern Cottage for one night and it was fabulous. We loved the pretty, Victorian ambience, with all mod-cons! Our first experience of a water bed - deliciously comfortable - and a wet-room - gleaming and efficient. Our breakfast was super with lots of choices, including jams made at our hosts' place in France. Peter and Heather were delightful people; genuinely friendly and prepared to go several extra miles to ensure we had a good stay. Can't recommend it enough!

My sister, her teenage son, and I recently travelled to the Midlands for a family reuinion. We did not want to stay in one of the 'sausage-factory' motels on the motorway with the risk of grubby rooms and the promise of horrible fast food. Luckily we found haven at Fern Cottage. Although Coton-in-the- Elms is just an easy ten minute drive off the motorway, it feels like you are in the middle of the rrual countryside. This charming and comfortable B&B is the best accommodation experience I have had in the UK. Heather and Peter are fantastic and friendly hosts and give you lots of advice and assistance but also respect your privacy and leave you alone when its appropriate. The rooms are clean and comfortable and promise an undisturbed nights sleep on really comfy beds (I was a bit cautious about the 'mud bed' before-but now I am a convert!). Their home-cooked breakfasts are delicious and a great way to start the day in comfort. They even offered to do a load of washing for us. All in all, staying at Fern Cottage is like staying with great old friends - I couldn't recommend it more highly

We stayed here for the bank holiday weekend in the Blue Room - an extremely comfortable and well equipped room. Heather and Peter, and their two cats Dilly and Kane, made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble including breakfast at 6am on Bank Holiday morning as we had to leave early for our flight home. This is the best B&B we've stayed in and we will certainly stay there again when we visit the area in future.

We stayed at Fern Cottage for 3 nights, as I was going on a day course near by and thought we could visit the Peak District at the same time. Heather was so accommodating, catering to our individual needs, she was very friendly and helpful - lent us maps and books when we went on a day trip to the Peak District. The breakfast was amazing but I think we each gained a couple KG's after that weekend!! :) but all worth it ......... The room was lovely, we had the water bed which took a bit of getting used to, but was very comfortable once we did! Was a really lovely weekend!

We stayed here while my brother attended the Download festival, it was in the perfect location. Heather was a brilliant host, super friendly and accomodating. My husband and myself had the Green Room with the mud bed which was amazingly comfortable! We'd never slept on a water bed before so didn't know what to expect, thought it would move too much, but was pleasantly suprised! It didn't move at all, because it's mud. Very comfortable, we wanted to take it home with us!! My mum and brother had the Blue Room which was also very nice. Both very cozy and clean. The location was perfect, very peaceful! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would recommend!
