Petralia Soprana is high in the Madonie Mountains of Sicily . A town of character , the hotel is a fine restoration . The rooms are of a medium size . All the facilities are there . The upper rooms have views over the rooftops . The staff are very helpful and friendly . Off season , and this includes early May when we stayed , dinner may have to be found in Petralia Sottana .
Overall , a great place to stay for this relatively quiet mountain area .

Room Tip: Views are not great but better from the top floor.

We eventually discovered this hotel on the internet but it was not easy as there were no reviews on tripadvisor and the hotel was relatively new. I was determined to find a place to stay in Petralia Soprana - so I was delighted when I found this.
The hotel is in a renovated building - or buildings - in the center of the medieval town.
The rooms are immaculate, large-sized, and very comfortable.
The bed linens are pure cotton, the oversized cotton towels are thick and fluffy. All of the bed and bathroom linens are changed daily.
The bed in the double rooms is very large and extremely comfortable.
The rooms are spacious with computer/tv/internet (there is no wifi but the ethernet connection can be disconnected from the computer and plugged into a laptop), desk, couch or love seat, and small refrigerator with complimentary water and soft drinks. The rooms have lovely views into courtyards or over flowering trees and bushes in gardens. At least one room has a balcony. Each floor of the hotel has a lovely sitting area and balcony.

The main floor also has comfortable seating areas, and interesting books on art and travel.
The breakfasts are marvelous - large selection of very good teas, excellent coffee with a choice of American, cappuccino, latte or espresso. There is a daily selection of fresh croissants, rolls, pastries, yogurts, fruit juices and jams, marmalades, nutella and honey.

Concetta was present every day for most of the day and speaks excellent English. She is more than willing to help with anything and everything you need or want. She arranged for a private driver for us; she helped with getting our airline tickets printed; she made suggestions for places to eat and places to go; and, she was always able to get us information and directions when we needed them! She even had the local restaurant owner open especially for us when we arrived late in the evening. The restaurant - Trattoria da Salvatore - is part of the Slow Food Movement, and the food is truly fantastic.

We stayed for 5 days and would gladly go back for two weeks! Petralia is a marvelous, very old town with interesting sites, churches, buildings. It is a very convenient place to stay and use as a starting place for hiking or walking to nearby towns and/or in the Madonie Mountains.

We would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

We decided to spend the night in Petralia Soprana and as we didn't find a B&B we ended up at Residenza Petra and this turned out being a very good choise. There is no parking next to the hotel, but there is a parking lot a few minutes away.

Residenza Petra opened in December 2009 and offers 15 rooms. The style is very nice, with thick stone walls and nicely furnished and spacious rooms. The bed was a bit narrow but comfortable. The bathroom was modern and nice. There was combined TV and computer in the room with free Internet, but no Wifi. As far as I remember there was a free minibar with water and soft drinks.

The only thing missing in this hotel was air conditioning. Even though it is a hotel in the mountain it gets quite warm and we would have liked to have aircondition.

One of the girls working in the reeption spoke pretty good Enlish and she was friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff we met did not speak English.

The village is a wonderful place, but unfortunately the only restaurant was closed and it was not possible to get dinner anywhere in Petralia Soprana. The breakfast was nice, with bread, butter, marmelade, honey, croissants, sweets, very good juices, tea and coffee.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.
