One of the best, if not the best, views of Arenal Lake and Volcano. We saw toucans, parrots, and monkeys all while sitting in a swinging chair on the porch. The breakfast is great and you can even make a special request for dinner which is also delicious. The staff is very courteous and were very helpful in pointing out the best places to go for the many activities in the area. I also highly recommend a massasge at the onsite spa. If you are looking for a great place to stay in Arenal, this is it.

Amazing location, stunning views of wildlife and sounds of them too. We saw toucans and caught glimpses of some monkeys as we were driving up the drive. It was very beautiful apart from the bathroom was not clean and the shower did not work very well.

The best of both views (Arenal volcano and lake Arenal)! If you want a romantic getaway this is the place for you. Imagine sitting on your deck and watching monkeys swing in the trees. We intented on staying 1 night and stayed 3. The first night we arrived late but they had someone on staff to let us into our room (Thanks Chico!). We stayed in a room by the main house but moved to a suite the next 2. They were the same price and the suite had a mini kitchen and better view. The breakfast was amazing and so fresh (they have thier own fruit trees and chickens). If you are in the area you need to stay at Nepenthe B&B.

Room Tip: You will need a SUV with four wheel drive to make it up the hills and roads (not paved). It is clos...

With views of a Beautiful still steaming Volcano... From the corner room!! The 4 Cabinas on a lower level have beautiful views of Volcano Lake and Partial views of the Volcano that is still Steaming through the jungle..
One of My favorite places onsite, is the Day Spa!! With full spa treatment ..

By the Day Spa in the Jungle is where we saw some ghost faced monkeys playing one morning about 9 am.. This B & B is Carved right out of the Jungle! The food is AMAZING !!!!! Nancy & Gordon Really made the 4 of us feel that we could raid the fridge in the middle of the night... LOL.... 5 days was not enough!!!!! i need at least 3 weeks or 3 months........ I wish LOL Such and adventure and soo much fun... That was greatly needed... Thank you so much for all the fun oh and the Hot springs! I have never seen so much natural beauty ! WoW

Nepenthe B&B exceeded all of our expectations, from the time we woke up in the morning to late into the evening. We stayed in one of the rooms in the main house, the views out of the room window are just spectacular. The grounds are very clean well groomed. The pool was always clean and refreshing at the end of the day of adventurous activities. There are hamocks, swinging chairs and rocking chairs under the cover porch to relax and take in the spectacular views of the lake, volcano, wildlife and sunsets even if it's raining. The covered porch keeps you dry during a good down pour. Our room was nice and clean with a small refrigerator and stocked with juices and cervezas. The Hot tub was great to relax in after a day of hiking.
The food was awesome!!! Fresh eggs from the chickens at the house, gallo pinto, hand made tortillas, fresh local fruit, even local home made hot sauce, just great Tico food. We also had pizza in town at Pizza Johns, thats right pizza in the middle of the jungle!!! Amazing pizza!! John also makes awesome ice cream as well. John is one cool guy to stay the least. You will have a great time at Pizza Johns that is for sure!
Gordon and Nancy the owners are just amazing. They just make you feel at home. They take interest in you and listen to what you desire on your vacation and made it happen!! Their staff are great as well. You can tell Grodon and Nancy selected their staff very carefully to ensure your stay at Nepenthe is spectular. From Agustin the Manger to Chico the grounds keeper they were all very freindly and accommodating. Agustin was wonderful, he set up our activities for the week and we were not disappointed. Zip line, horseback ridding to private 60ft water fall, mineral springs, Jungle hiking ..etc. A very fun and adventurous week of activities. Agustin took time to explain the Tico way of life and emerge us into their culture. Agustin is true asset to Nepentha B&B. Crissa their on site masseuse was the best!!! Never felt better atfer a massage. I definitely recommend you get a massage from her. She is very friendly and polite, Amazing!! Gordon and Nancy hosted a local social event at Nepenthe B&B and we got a chance to meet and visit with the local people of El Castillo. What a great time we had that evening, cervezas, cocktails, local food, muisic just unbelievable. On our last night there we had a superb local dinner in-house with Gordon and Nancy. They didn't have to do this but that is what they are all about at Nepethe B&B, aim to please you to the fullest. What great memories I will take back home with me.
We came to Nepnthe B&B as guest/visitors and left as freinds. I just can't say enought great things about this place. To sum it all up : PURA VIDA !!!!!!!

Room Tip: Have Agustin plan your activites, he will take very good care of you.

Where to begin, everything about this little piece of paradise is everything one could ask for! The 1st thing you will be in awe about is the amazing view!! Once you're settled in you will feel right at home as if you're a part of their extended family. The owners Gordon and Nancy along side of their staff are down to earth, real genuine people who aim to make your stay the best it can be! The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast is always fresh and delicious, there is a pool and hot tub there if you would like to partake. Last but not least there is a onsite masseuse who is the best at her craft and all guests get 1/2 off and I highly recommend you take advantage of this offer! When I come back this where I will be staying!
