“An icon of the past that still function”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

This wooden church from the 17th century is a typical representative for its kind. I have been there for services, consorts during winter and summer. It have its own spirit and put the visitor in a mood of respect and admiration.

“The Church of the Holy Spirit”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

What is not to like about this church? This baroque church from 1647 is regarded as one of the two finest in Norway. Most of the interior is original, the carvings outstanding and the altar painting (The last supper), a Rubens copy, is one of the finest to be found. The history of the church and the background of the painting is in itself worth a visit to the church. As a matter of fact, practically everything within the church as well as outside, has a story attached to it, be it the galleries, the pews, the babtismal font etc, etc. Visitors to Risor will find that a stop at the church is well worth their time..

“Not a fan of locked churches.”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

Remember when churches were open to the public? It's a shame that many see a need to lock their doors. This church is beautiful from the outside, but I had wanted to see the inside of the 1647 church, which Internet pictures show to be especially beautiful. I realize that the church exists primarily for spiritual interests rather than esthetic, but the interior esthetics sure would have lifted my spirit!
