This place is a MUST if you're in the Playa Negra area! The beach is GORGEOUS; with LOLA'S right there, plan on staying all day!

A very relaxed, welcoming atmosphere offering open-air beach dining and great music under beautiful shading palm trees, what's not to like? They offer unique choices of delicious food (try the picante pizza!) and cold, cheap drinks...smoothies for the kids!

P.S. Lola is a huge pig that wanders around. :) Take your camera; you won't ever want to forget this place!

I hardly need to write about this place, because, YES, as many others have stated, this place is paradise. If you've stumbled across these reviews, you've already discovered the hidden treasure that is LOLA'S.

The secluded beach bar atmosphere is pure heaven. The beers are cheap and cold. The food is deliciously unique. And everyone who lives and works here (including the dogs, the cat, and the giant pig) is warm, friendly, and welcoming.

Don't go when you're in a rush--you'll get your order at a laid back pace. (Simply out, anyone who has complained about it in the reviews below probably doesn't belong here.). And frankly, you'll want to take your time to savor the experience. So kick back, relax, and order some poki, the killer nachos, and a picante pizza.

They don't make 'em like this anywhere in the US. And I have a feeling this is the only place like it in Costa Rica, too.

Don't miss an opportunity for lunch at this Playa Avellanas staple. No trip to CR is complete without a visit here. Bring your camera to photograph the monkeys in the trees. If you are lucky, Lola will make the rounds. If you are staying at Hacienda Pinilla, you can walk here at low tide along the beach. Open for lunch.

PS-Where does Amy go for dinner? We saw her enjoying dinner at Villa Deveena in Playa Negra.

Very cool little spot in Costa Rica. You're on the beach covered by tree's and birds. The service is good, better than most places in Costa Rica. They have the pig which the kids loves, we didn't get a chance to see her go into the ocean however. The down sides were the food and the cost. It was very expensive and the food was at best average, some of the items were below average in fact. The fish and chips seemed to get the best review from our group, there were (14) of us. Do not get the pizza, it was almost uneatable. Being from NY/NJ, we may be jaded a bit but we ate at about 6 restaurants while we were there and Lola's in our opinion ranked 6th for the food. Banana bread was tasty but not Hawaiian quality if you've ever picked some on on the road to Hana.

All in all, like I said, it's a 3 1/2. Fun place to hang out, good for kids but below average food.

It was worth the trip down gravel road shared with cattle. Amazing, Gorgeous beach with healthy delicioso food. Get there early around 9 to 10am for parking and good seating. Put our 7 month old to sleep in the hammock with the waves crashing behind and he slept on his blanket in the sand.
