“A fantastic home from which to explore an idyllic part of France”

“My family and I (6 adults and 4 children) have just returned from a wonderful holiday staying at Raffet. The properties (maison and gite) were perfect. They were exceptionally well equipped so that we had everything that we needed for our two week stay. The swimming pool was much fun as were the outside games that we were able to use. There is an Intermarche close by and, of course, boulangeries, which were a MUST every day! Not too far away were Chateaux and Attractions to visit plus excellent fresh produce markets. The lovely lady, who manages the properties, was very helpful in giving us local information and in making sure that we were happy with everything. Raffet is a holiday to remember and we hope that one day we will be able to revisit it

“Pretty well perfect for our family holiday”
Reviewed August 28, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

While our stay was somewhat marred by a family issue unrelated to the venue, we found Raffet pretty well perfect for our family holiday. We were ourselves (in our 70s), our 2 sons (40s), their wives (ditto) and our 3 grandchildren (10, 9 and 8). We had perfect weather most of the week of our stay, the children loved the pool, there was plenty of space for flying our small quad copter and for other fun and games, there were several idyllic places to breakfast, lunch and dine, it was peaceful, well equipped, and comfortable. We also hired a mountain bike and I really enjoyed riding about the local area (seeing sunflowers, deer, birds of prey and friendly locals), we sampled the local restaurants, which ranged from the plain to the haute cuisine and we loved being in this part of France.

“A Perfect Holiday”

We stayed in Raffet with a group of 9 and it was perfect. Half the group stayed in the barn and half in the house and it was superb. We spent long lazy days by the pool, using the barn facilities and the evenings eating on the terrace outside the large, well equipped kitchen. The grounds were also fantastic and spent a fun afternoon playing hide and seek, as well as boule. The Utility barn was stocked full of games to pay in and out of the pool. This really was a wonderful holiday and the photo's did not do it justice. The only point I would make is that the sunbeds weren't the best, but apart from that; fantastic and we would certainly book again!

“our superb stay at Raffet”
Reviewed August 14, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We were a family group of 8 Adults and 3 teenage boys who have just come back from an amazing staying at Raffet. The setting for Raffet is picturesque and very peaceful. We booked both the barn and the house, which were both very well presented and very comfortable. The kitchen in the main house has every single gadget you would ever need. There was so much to do locally including canoeing and fishing for the boys, evening markets for the ladies, and so much history to explore in the local villages and towns.

Would we go back - already saving for the next time!

“Fabulous holiday home”
Reviewed September 6, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We recently stayed at Raffet with 2 other families ( 12 in total). We had the most amazing time here , the house and gardens are beautiful and very tastefully decorated. The house was equipped very well there was nothing we needed that wasn't provided.
We highly recommend to anyone wanting a holiday with friends.

“A real home from home”
Reviewed August 3, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Chose Raffet as the place to celebrate my 50th birthday with a group of friends. I'm a true believer in the theory that you can tell what a place is going to be like within the first few minutes of arriving and this was no exception. As soon as we arrived late on Saturday evening after a long drive down from the UK, we felt at ease. It was like walking into your own home, with comfy sofas and a few bottles of local wine left thoughtfully for us on the kitchen table. Everything you could wish for during your stay is there, from the binoculars for spotting the local wildlife to the boardgames in the cupboard and the books on the shelf. It's as if the owner had invited you to stay at his house as a guest and told you to make yourself at home.
With lazy days spent around the pool in the glorious sunshine to chilled out evenings on the patio enjoying a barbecue and watching the lizards scurrying around, you can't help but relax. Seeing the deer roaming around in the rear garden was truly magical!
The place itself is enormous with plenty of space to spread out and find your own corner away from others, even with a big crowd. We would often lose a member of the party and have to wander around to discover them sitting reading in a quiet spot somewhere. The kitchen in the main house is plenty big enough to cater for the entire group (we never even used the facilities in the barn save for making morning tea). Every conceivable kitchen gadget you can possibly think of was on hand, from the olive forks to the lemon zester. I challenge anyone to come up with an item they need which isn't available! And there are so many outdoor spaces with the covered terrace, rear patio overlooking the woods, poolside area, plus seating at the front of the house and the lawned areas too.
All the bedrooms/bathrooms in both the main house and the barn were great. The bed in the main bedroom in the house was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in and so big that when lying on each side, my partner & I could barely touch each other in the middle! The antique French armoires and other furniture just added to the luxury homely feel.
Please be aware that mobile phone signal at the property is sporadic to say the least and the free wi-fi only really extends to the main house and can be a little slow if everyone is trying to access it at once. But with such beautiful surroundings, who wasn't to be checking e-mails anyway?
Louise the property manager was always available. to help out with any queries but not so close that you felt under watch. If you need any advice regarding restaurants or excursions, she'll certainly help you out. And thanks very much for advising us of the French air traffic controllers strike too. Unfortunately it didn't impact us and we couldn't extend our stay as we had hoped!
Being the beginning of June, we had not quite hit full season so the little town of Miramont about 2.5kms away was quiet with most of the bars and restaurants closing early or only open at weekends. The weekly market however was good and the patisserie in town was delicious. Eymet, slightly further away and more of a drive than a walk was beautiful and much busier, if a little "English ex-pat" for my tastes. A great selection of bars and restaurants to suit all palates.
Note that if arriving late on a Saturday, only a couple of the local supermarkets are open to stock up on provisions on Sunday - Netto in Miramont is fine and has an extensive selection at very reasonable prices.
