“Best of Southern France”

This B&B succeeds because of the spirit of the owner - Sarah. Property is nicely furnished, clean, and pleasant. Great rooms with extras that make you feel at home. We visited in June from Chicago. Spent quite a bit of time talking with her which is why we travel. I hope to make it back someday.

From the moment we arrived we felt completely at home. A warm welcome from Sarah, with cold white wine on the sunny terrace. Charming room with direct access to the terrace.

Sarah was really helpful and very generous … provided an early breakfast so that we could get away early to see the Tour. She suggested (and booked) restaurants, places to visit. I mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary; it happened to be another guest’s birthday and Sarah provided bottles of Limoux to celebrate.

Set in the old town the building is old and charming with a tranquil lounge and sunny terrace. Breakfasts great with amazingly good pastries. Restaurants on the doorstep. Quick run to Carcassone airport, lots of tourist sites within an easy drive. The beach is about an hour away.

We really, really enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 3 with door straight out to the terrace. Lovely.

Having never been to the south of France before I wasn't sure if my expectations would be met but they were surpassed in this wonderful village and equally wonderful B&B excellently run by new owners Mark and Sarah. Waking in the morning to the sound of the abbey bells and the smell of freshly baked croissants from the boulangerie round the corner, set me up for a day of exploring this fascinating area steeped in history.
L'Ancienne Boulangerie is a real find, tucked down one of the cobbled streets in the heart of the village, Mark and Sarah have made this a delightful place to stay with wonderful crisp white linen and the special touches of slippers and dressing gowns. Breakfast of fresh fruit and croissants is served in the breakfast room or on the wonderful walled patio surrounded by the smell of lavendar and herbs.
This is a special place which I strongly recommend. I will be back!

Room Tip: Room 3 has access to the patio, but our room (Room 4) was a really good size with a view over the co...

After nearly 30 years of dragging my family around every nook and cranny in France my partner and I have finally found our little piece of heaven in Villeneuve Minervoise. Our recent visit to finalise some arrangements gave rise to a weekend stay in nearby Caunes where good fortune delivered us into the hands of Sarah and Mark and their wonderful B&B, L'Ancienne Boulangerie. From the moment Sarah opend the door to greet us we knew we were somewhere special. The warmth of our hosts seemed to echo the origins of this ancient bakery and as the weekend passed we settled into the charming environment that surrounded us. It is clear in every pristine detail and every generous gesture that Sarah and Mark really care about their guests and making sure they get the very best out of their stay in this magical place. An absolute find!

This is probably the best B&B we have visited in Southern France. The ambience and welcome is first class.Sara and Mark have made L'Ancienne Boulangerie into a magical place.

Chambre 3 is a charming and romantic room with the most attractive courtyard garden accompanied by a wealth of aromatic herbs and shrubs. The attention to detail in the crisp linen sheets, dressing gowns and slippers provided was impeccable. Breakfast was excellent and included in the price - unusual in France.
Excellent value for money.Pure luxury from start to finish.

We would thoroughly recommend a visit to this wonderful B & B.

Room Tip: Anywhere in this beautiful B&B

Dear Sara, thank you for making my stay in Caunes so relaxing, as the new owners of l'ancienne boulangerie you and Mark have made the place a haven. Your relaxed, helpful and friendly hospitality was more like 1st class than rustic out of the way B&B, and yet you hadn't lost that part of L'ancienne boulangerie's charm either, no mean feat! I wholeheartedly recommend your hospitality and your home from from home to all travellers heading to Caunes, or as a 'well worth it' diversion en route to elsewhere, your place is worth a detour and I cant imagine a better place to stay en route or to be in Caunes for a while. Rates are better than reasonable and the comfort and ambience restores body and soul almost as soon as you are welcomed in. Really the service here is First Class; instinctive and experienced. Chambre 3 and the intimate courtyard garden were perfect for just relaxing and being still and at peace in the heart of the village. best wishes to you both and thank you again, au revoir...... PS just so readers may know, this was my first visit and did not know the owners personally beforehand, it's an unbiased review!

Room Tip: let Sara be your guide!
