We spent a very pleasant couple of days - we had a bit of trouble finding it, but that was our own fault. Nice, clean, bright room (Garden Room, I think it was called). Plenty of parking space. Comfy beds.

We only had 2 nights at Les Peupliers unfortunately - we could have stayed much longer. From the lovely welcome we received on arrival (from Tracey, Mike and Max) to our departure we had a fantastic time and couldn't fault a thing. As soon as we'd settled in we were being taken for a walk by Max around the very quiet lanes and in the evening were treated to a drink and Mike's homemade canapes before an excellent dinner served with local wine. Dinner was so good we decided to eat in the following night too - though not until after we'd borrowed Tracey and Mike's bikes and spent a few hours cycling around the area.
Our room and ensuite bathroom were both large and very comfortable indeed. As for our hosts - a more lovely, friendly, helpful couple you could not find and we thoroughly enjoyed their and Max's company each evening.
We will be back.

Tracey and Mike offer the type of unfussy hospitality that you can only dream about. They work wonderfully well on every level. Mike’s food is so superb, we found ourselves close to a nervous breakdown about deciding about whether to go out and eat, in case we missed something back at the big evening table in the garden. To cut out the stress levels we stayed in every one of the five nights we were there, and were never disappointed.

Tracey’s unforced, relaxed and genuine pleasure in making sure you are "just right", is only equalled to the canine joy Max shows, in seeing you walk in through his gate.

We left vowing to return next year, and are only worried that by letting too many people in on our secret, we are shooting ourselves in the foot

I can't say enough about this B and B, what an incredible stay. We stayed in the Hayloft I and found the B and B to be everything we could have wished for. Tucked away in a peaceful location but with easy access to Saumur, Tracey and Mike were fantastic hosts, and Mike's cooking is just to die for. We were wondering if we should stay in and test out the food and I am so pleased we did. We are planning to return to try his cookery course he offers as if I can recreate any of the dishes he cooked for us I will feel a total domestic goddess. The room was spotless and bright with fresh flowers and a comfortable firm kingsize bed. I would not hesitate in recommending Les Peupliers to anyone, it was just fabulous in every way and you will not be disappointed. I forgot to mention - the breakfasts are outstanding - home made conserves, homemade bread, and the best muesli on earth. I am well and truly sold into this beautiful haven in the Loire.

  • Liked — Everything, the breakfasts, the dinner, the comfy bed, Max the dog
  • Disliked — Nothing, it was all just perfect

Just returned from a second stay at Les Peupliers. Had a really great time and can't praise it enough! Tracey and Mike are excellent hosts and very knowledgable about the local area. The rooms are beautifully decorated , the food is absolutely fantastic - Mike is a chef and they use their own home-grown produce.
No review about Les Peupliers would be complete without mentioning Max - their lovely and friendly golden labrador!!
We would highly recommend staying here to anyone wishing to stay in the Loire region and we cannot wait to visit again!

The reviews are right: Mike and Tracey run a wonderful establishment. The setting and the accommodation are just gorgeous and the food is superb.

Dinner is definitely worth staying in for as Mike is a great chef; balancing good local ingredients (where possible from their own kitchen garden) with innovative style but without being too outrageous. This is complemented with a good selection of local wines. It was great value and we loved every meal!

But what really makes this place special is the way the guests are treated. Nothing is too much trouble. The guests all dine together which makes for interesting conversations as they are an international mix. Mike and Tracey often join the conversation after the meal which made us feel as if we were friends rather than just paying customers. And of course we must mention the other member of the team, Max the labrador. He's part of the welcoming committee and makes sure all the guests have their fair share of attention.

Would we go back again? You bet!

I am almost reluctant to post a review about Les Peupliers for fear of too many people finding it! We have now stayed with Mike and Tracey for two years running. We found them completely by accident surfing the net but they are a real find. The place and rooms are lovely, spotless and the setting is very tranquil. Two of us (dad and 14 year old) spent two afternoons with Mike in the kitchen - his food is excellent and two of us (mum and 13 year old) went off to Tracey's spa room to be pampered. They are kind and considerate hosts and by the end of the week we all felt very relaxed. Les Peupliers is well situated to visit beautiful parts of the Loire and the area is stuffed full of vineyards - all begging to be tried out. The added attraction for our teenage girls is not only the pool but Max - a particularly handsome dog!
