My boyfriend and I stayed here for a couples holiday in a Eurocamp static caravan from 17th-24th June. Check in was simple, and the Eurocamp representative was lovely and there is a hut where you can borrow games, books, etc. This ended up being great for us as the weather was AWFUL. In fact, on the second day of our visit there was a thunderstorm ALL day and most of the grounds were flooded. You cant blame the campsite for the weather though, and when we could finally emerge they had laid out walkways over the new moats surrounding the caravans which was lovely of them. They did visit and ask if we wanted to move to another campsite, but we were fine and chose not to.

The caravan itself smelt strongly of cleaning fluid on arrival which did take a while to subside, but it was clean. The bedrooms are quite tight, but as we were a couple we could use the spare rooms for storage so this didnt bother us. If you packed one out though you may feel a bit cramped. Beds were comfy and quiet though, and the shower powerful and hot.

The grounds and local area are very pretty, there are roses everywhere, and it is very quiet apart from birdsong and crickets. The pool complex was small but nice, and we had sole use when we went so apart from the weather June is a good time to go to avoid crowds. One negative is that being so close to water though there is a LOT of mosquitoes, so bring repellant.

We used the shop a fair bit, but we also visited the intermarche in Saumur. You can get your basics there, but there's not a huge choice. The milk and butter is amazing though! Similar price to the UK for most things there.

We had a pizza one night from the takeaway, that was quite nice. We tried the restaurant on the first night though and wasnt impressed. Very limited stuff left for us to order, so we both ended up choosing something we didnt fancy. My partner's lamb was overcooked and my steak was very over salted. I'm a foodie so was disappointed as you expect amazing food in France, but we had a better expereince eating in Saumur later on in the week. The wine was nice though, we opted for the local stuff and we found we really liked the region's wines.

We found that with a car, this is perfectly situated to get out and explore. You can drive into Saumur in 5 minutes, or you can get on the main road that goes between Angers and Tours.

Overall we really liked this place, especially as we ended up enjoying ourselves there despite the appaling weather. I would reccommend staying here, although personally I would avoid the restaurant and eat in Saumur.

We stayed here with our caravan for 1 week from the 24th June.Check in at reception was speedy and informative, we were given a choice of pitch.
The pitch was large, with privacy hedging and water and electricity nearby. At night the site was quiet and there was access to the site via a barrier at all times.
The shop on site was good for basics and sold bread every morning. There is a huge Le Clerc supermarket in Saumur.
The restaurant just outside the gates is worth a visit, menu varied and reasonable prices.Snacks and takeaway are available for the bar.
Every where was very clean and the shower blocks and toilets very good.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Would use this campsite again.

We stayed here the first week in June & were extremely lucky with the weather. I believe the area had lots of rain prior to this and the Loire river was still very swollen and some small areas of the campsite were still soggy. Luckily this did not effect us.

We were given a nice pitch facing the bar and shop but at the far end of the site. There was a large grassy area in the middle of the site which was good for playing cricket & swingball etc. The pitch was sunny during the morning and shady late afternoon which suited us fine. If you are a very light sleeper like myself it would be worth taking some earplugs as there is a railway line a little distance from the campsite and trains could be heard late into the evening / early morning.

The toilets and showers were always spotless and fresh smelling whatever time of the day we visited them. The toilets had the type of flushes that go off when you wave your hand in front of the sensor which is good for hygiene reasons, but they did have a mind of their own and would go off at random which is not pleasant when you are still sitting on them! The showers in the block nearest to us had buttons which you had to constantly press in order to keep them going. There was literally 20 seconds before they would go off, but the water was nice & hot and the temperature could be changed to suite which was nice.

The shop is handy and sold lovely fresh croissants and baguettes every morning and English papers (from the day before). Prices were more expensive than the local supermarkets but that is to be expected.

We had a couple of pizzas from the snack bar which were nice and there was a good variety of toppings. I did have a croque monsieur on one occasion which arrived frozen solid most of the way though. I sent this back and it came back 5 mins later still cold and inedible but we couldn't be bothered to send it back again so it ended up in the bin! Except for the pizzas don't expect any freshly prepared food here!

We did not visit the restaurant during our time at the site. There is a menu outside but it is all in French without any English translation which I found surprising given the large amount of English people staying here.

The outside seating area of the bar was nice and was a real suntrap all day. The inside was very small and lacking in any atmosphere, perhaps some background music might be in order. I appreciate the site was very quiet at the time we were there but it really was like a morgue! There is a pool table but at 2 Euros a go it was not in much use unsurprisingly! The bar staff were not particularly welcoming and we therefore spent most evenings either in Saumur or on our pitch.

Saumur is a lovely town with many bars and restaurants and it was very nice cycling around the area. The campsite was in a good location for exploring the Loire Valley by car and there is plenty to do.

Perhaps in peak season this campsite is much more lively and has a better atmosphere. All in all it was not a bad stay by any means but we would probably not choose to stay here again.

As promised went again in May half term for our 6th (or is it 7th) year in a row, the weather wasn't as good as previous years , I believe May was there wettest on record, but having said that only 1 day was a wash out. Kids are now 11 and 9 and said it was there best year yet and begged us to book for next May which we did as we left. As usual Brigitte ( the owner) and her team couldn't do enough from putting out wooden crates so no one had to walk in the mud , to towing out cars that had got stuck and even driving us to hospital because my son split his head and needed stitches. You immediately feel relaxed driving onto the site, the mobiles ( direct) are clean and well equipped , it has a lovely "feel" and a week is never long enough. Our kids have met up with the same friends that have visited over the years and the age range is now 8 to 16 , where else can u say that happens. There is no evening entertainment in May just a restaurant and bar, the campsite is quiet and friendly but there is a pool table and small arcade room for the kids to keep them entertained. This site suits us for a week in May as its quiet, friendly , relaxed , spacious and very relaxing sets us up nicely for our busier holiday in August.! The kids love it here and insist we go back year after year. Highly Recommended

I have just returned home from a Eurocamp holiday where my wife two daughters ( 11 months & 4) and I stayed on this site. I felt the facilities were great. Each morning my 4 yo and myself would cycle to the shop to get freshly baked bread for breakfast. The bread was still warm and tasty. The shop was quite well stocked however there is a massive Leclerc hypermarche only a 10 minute drive away in Saumur. My 4 yo adored the pool, my only issue was trying to get her to leave! We had a lot of rain on our stay but as 2 of the pools are heated( including the one with the water slides ) and one of these is undercover rain was no impediment to going swimming! One word of warning for guys, they do not allow long shorts in the pool. We took our bikes with us but the do have bike to rent as well as karts that you pedal. Once again my daughter loved this( and to be fair so did I!).
Now as I mentioned before we had a lot of rain. So much so that our pitch like many others became a lake. In the middle of our third night our tent was flooded. The following morning Eurocamp were about to give us another tent however the people who run the camp site gave us one of their mobile homes. We felt this was extremely generous . My wife and I had been concerned that with all the rain all the pitches were flooded and with our children in mind we did want hem to get ill. They let us have one of their mobile homes which was dry and warm! We loved this and very much appreciated there help. This was not the only time they were nice but it felt like they were going above and beyond their duty( bear in mind we did not book with them so they did not directly get any of our money).
My wife and I discussed that we would certainly revisite this site, which considering our tent was flooded says quite a lot

We spent 10 days here, in not so great weather, but it was a very pleasant place to stay. The staff were very nice - it seemed to be family run. The facilities were lovely. The water features, while not as impressive looking as at other Castles campsites, were perfect for our 5 and 7 year old - i can imagine when it is busy you'd need to queue for the slides, but it was relatively quiet when we stayed there due to the bad weather. They kids enjoyed the pony riding lessons at the site. We booked direct with the site and got a very clean very nice mobile home - way better site and location than the mobiles that were rented out by the campint holiday tour groups (don't want to mention any names!) Lovely campsite, but we couldn't find our bearings in Saumur - while it is a city/town it lacked the touristy element that we needed, as a family with young kids. Maybe for a couple it would have been a good city, but it lacked the buzz that we have found in Carnac, Brittany. Eating out wasn't easy as we couldn't find anywhere nearby.. anywhere at all! except for the seasonal restaurant opened by the campsite which was very nice, but we would have liked some other options within walking distance. We will definitely go back here if travelling through the Loire again.

Room Tip: book direct with the campsite for a great site with space and a very clean mobile home.

As a couple and with friends, we have visited this site for several years, either with a caravan or the last 4 years with a motor home, and it was with our motorhome (7.9m) that we visited the site in June 2012, The pitches are large and will accommodate any large motor home or caravan, leaving plenty of room for awnings, towing or towed car and ample room to place out your table and chairs, There is a variety of sunny, part shade or full or shade pitches.
There is a large well stocked shop, welcoming bar and good area for snacks. Outside the main gate there is a new restaurant with a variety of menus to suit all tastes at reasonable prices.
The pool area is large and never feels crowded even when busy, and there is a separate water chute. For anyone interested in doing a bit of fishing whilst on holiday there is an on site pond.
A short drive or bike ride takes you into Saumur, well worth a visit.
On arrival at the site you receive a warm welcome from the owner Brigitte and her team, and together they ensure you have a pleasant stay.
