“Pleasant Luxury”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

Made an impromptu run to Saarburg for an overnight. Villa Keller was a wonderful experience. Book Room 5 for the Balcony and view of the Saar. The room was generously sized with nice furnishings. We enjoyed a bottle of wine in the late afternoon followed by a wonderful multi-course meal. The pumpkin soup and venison were highlights complimented by the Chef/Hotel Owner checking about our meal at the end of the evening. A traditional breakfast followed the next morning. Service was warm and impeccable at every turn. We'll return again for a summer stay to savor the beer garden. This is a top notch destination in a pleasant small town.

Room Tip: Ask for room 5 (extra cost) with a balcony facing the river.

Excellent location, perfect for cyclists. Very accommodating with young children. Lovely beer garden and playground at the back. Great breakfast, and all very good value. All in all, highly recommended.

Good location on the river and close to the railway station. Old property but tastefully renovated, bedrooms are old style but huge with enormous bathroom and brand new showers. Everything was in order and worked, the place was spotlessly clean and they have a great little restaurant in the gounds. we had a couple of glasses of Saarburger Rieslings which were delicious, so fruity and minerally and the best plate of Kasespatzle we've ever had (cheese noodles for my fellow Brits). The cheese was really mature and the dish was topped off with a huge pile of crispy fried onions, my god it went so well with the wine. We will return.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is located at the Saar river overlooking the town of Saarburg, and a short 5 min. walk to the town centre across the bridge. Our room was very spacious. We were welcomed by the owners and they gave us all information needed and a lot more.
We went biking along the Saar and Moesel river. The hotel has a very good restaurant at a decent price level, however in the Wirtshaus situated next to the hotel you can eat more bistro like food against popular prices. But the food is coming out of the same kitchen. So quality is still there. There is a separate building to store the bikes.
Service was friendly and allways with a smile. Plenty of parking space at both sides of the hotel.
Excellent place for a short break.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front overlooking the river

We chose this hotel to celebrate a birthday. The villa is located very picturescly right alongside the river Saar, so beautiful views, if you happen to be given a room on that side of the villa.
This is a family run business, at times it can be difficult to find someone for assistance, but in general service was efficient and very friendly, particularly during breakfast. The main restaurant, which formerly would have been the main family lounge, is used to servce breakfast, offering views over the Saar; unfortunately the weather was not nice enough to enjoy the terrace. Breakfast is sufficient, and a variety of eggs dishes can be ordered a la minute at no extra charge ( breakfast is included in the room rate).
The rooms are, given the turn of the century architecture, very spacious, with beautiful high ceilings and furniture that compliments the architecture. We did however find that the bathrooms in most rooms are very small, moving around in them is a challenge, and certainly impossible for use than 1 person at a time. There are a couple of rooms which are perfectly spacious, so do make sure to enquire about this when booking. There is no mini bar or coffee/tea making facilities, but a complimentary bottle of water is available.
The highlight for culinary delights is the Bierstube, formerly the stables for the villa, The food is absolutely outstanding in quality, a great selection of wines is available, and the atmosphere is very cosy. The Bierstube is clearly popular, do make sure to reserve a table, even as a hotel guest. On the contrary, the gourmet restaurant ( breakfast room) did not appear to be frequented during our visit, and we would not have enjoyed a meal there, sitting completely on our own, with no sound other than our own chatter...
The little town of Saarburg is picturesque, and the paths along the river offer great opportunity for walks and bicycle rides. Trips to Trier, Saarbruecken, Metz and Luxemburg are all easily started from Saarburg.

This hotel is situated on the bank of the river Saar, just opposite of the castle of Saarburg. You have to cross the river to walk to the medieval centre of the town. Saarburg is a nice place to stay for a shortbreak.
Our room in Villa Keller was large and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious, but a little bit oldfashioned.
We didn't have diner in the hotel for it was very busy in the hotel due to a weddingparty. The next day we enjoyed an excellent breakfast before returning home.
