I usually don't write reviews about my/our dining experiences, but our family's experience at the Creemore Kitchen on Sunday evening was exceptional. We had gone hiking in the "crevices," as the locals call it (the Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area) and had enjoyed a gorgeous, slightly crisp summer day and were looking for a place for dinner. We headed to Creemore and found Creemore Kitchen. We had seen the website/menu before, but it's the actual live experience that impressed us. After waiting for dinner service to begin, and having no reservation, we (two kids in tow) were seated outside. Service, by our standards, was slower than we would have liked. However, we were not disappointed. We began with an amply, but not overly spiced corn chowder brimming with carrots, celery, and of course, corn, and an adequate green salad. The mains were delectable. I had a tagliatelle with green beans, sugar snap peas and homemade ricotta with mint oil (my children shared an order and finished it all) while my wife opted for a mung bean stew with garlic rice. We also ordered a plate of home fries with homemade tomato jam (which unfortunately they haven't got around to bottling, but they should).
We washed them down with Creemore Brewery's Sunny and Share, and enjoyed the evening on a porch overlooking a lovely garden teeming with native wildflowers and plants.
While we waited for dessert to be served, we headed inside for a bathroom break and told the chef how much we were enjoying the meal. He came out and brought our desserts, one a peach shortcake, the other a chocolate cake, both topped with homemade french vanilla ice cream and a sauce that my son spooned off his plate happily until not a drop remained.
As we were savouring dessert over tea and coffee (also very good), we said to ourselves that we'd come back up to Creemore and share the experience with friends and how we've had far less impressive meals and attention and paid more.
