“Enjoy September in Corfu”
Reviewed October 7, 2011

15 - 22 September
One of the best places on the island! Let's go back to Corfu, if again find the vouchers at the rate of Last minute. To pay the full rate for Corfu, we do not agree:)

The hotel is good. Exceeded our expectations. Situated perfectly!
Air Conditioning 6 euros per day. Rent safe at the reception - 4 euro per day plus 5 euro deposit.
Cooks must be dismissed! All totally tasteless, even hot dogs and coffee! So our "Service rating" - it is bad.We took HB.
We decided that the economy might spoil the impression of relaxation and have dinner at the tavern (about 40 euros for two with wine, beer and delicious seafood.) Breakfast in a cafe near. Take-away coffee, croissants and baguettes with ham / vegetables. Coffee 1.5 - 2 EUR, a large croissant with chocolate 2.6 EUR baguette - 2.6 EUR.
Bathroom is not for big people. It is very small.
For us, In Corfu hotel - is not important thing. Important is landscape, national color, clear sea, a cozy beach, calm, taverns. If you think the same way, then you should visit Messonghi!
As for taverns in Messonghi, we did not like the advertised "Dionysus" tavern. Because noisy, disingenuous hosts. Apparently, quality was transformed into a growth :(
We "tasted" "The Meraki" - a wonderful, cozy. Fisherman's Jani taverna . Menu of 20 dishes, but this is the real family tavern! Caution! The most delicious and huge shrimp in Corfu! And the most delicious white wine! :)

In Messonghi no Wi-Fi and Internet connections for travelers.
The nearest ATM in Moraitika (15 minutes walk along the road to Corfu).

we booked our flight tickets over the phone with monarch and booked our accodation with cosmos (BE WARNED) we were told we had paid inclusive of air conditioning - when we got there the receptionist said we had to pay? on there website it does not say that air con you have to (payable locally) - this is a trick we would not have booked this hotel if we knew we would have to pay for the air con. Anyway as for this old derelect hotel and its unhelpful staff, how many health hazards does it have, well for a start the swimming pool is dirty and has screws missing on the drains which is oose, this i reported to shay of cosmos but nothing was done. The lift has these dangerous inner closing doors that open as the lift is moving if you ever got your hands caught your fingers would come off!! (BE WARNED) air con leaks on the balcony, my son slipped but was ok thank god (another health hazard) reported but nothing done by their useless unhelpful staff. This is no 3 star hotel, it has a bath the size for a small child and no shower hook, you cant sit in the bath, it has no locks on the toilet door in our room or in the downstairs toilets, no satalite tv as adveristed in brochure and on website - doesen't have one english speaking channel, the towels are only changed once every 3 days. The breakfast (YUK) is just egg, cheese, ham and bread can you beleive there is no toast, beans or bacon, it is on another planet this hotel!!! the pool area is small and for approx 25 people and has 12, umbrellas and the pool had a small section for kids which was 1.20m deep, no room for non swimmers as the main pool was too deep and had no shallow end. There was only a german menu untill i complained. the pool was NEVER cleaned always had sand at the bottom in the corners and had dead wasps. The beach was nice but full of stones and rocks (no sandy beach as advertised) FALSE advertising - you need shoes to get into the sea and walk on the beach - the walking planks are all broken and loose it is very dangerous for kids. The resort Messonghi has few pavements - be carefull its dangerous as you walk in the road quite alot. there is shops and resturants about 15 minute walk, i would reccomened going to corfu town for better shops the hotel does have a bus sevice which takes you there for around 2 euros per person. back to the hotel we were half board and didint see any fruit for 2 weeks except for watermelon, no fetta in their salads and no ice cream ever offered for sweet. There was no variety offered food and sweet and this hotel doesnt cater for different nationalites. THIS HOTEL IS A DEFENITE MISS - i wouldnt reccomened it to my enemy with its 1980's look and unhelpful staff.

I reccommend this hotel to the families with small children. We were with two children:3year boy and a year old girl.We had a bed for our little daughter, bed for our son and double bed for us.It is very quiet place with lot of trees and flowers, ordinary children playground, swimming pool for children and adults.Beach is on 50m from the hotel and it's very nice.Food is excellen. For dinner(from 6p.m to 9p.m)you are offered about 5-6 different meals, salads and a desert.Servise is good.We plan to visit the Gemini Hotel next year, again.

hotel catered for german tourists, there was hardly any information in english. the pool was small and there was not much for the kids to do. The food was lovely however we had to work out what we were eating as it was in deutsch.
The evening bar tender was very charming and seemed to be the only person who spoke fluent english, he kept us entertained in the evenings.

We went to Corfu with my partner as a summer holiday and we wanted to have our own space and peace, which was kinda average at Gemini. We had a good time, altough the pool was extremely small as well as the "sunbathing area" just behind the bar, which was also pretty small. Service was good, people were all very nice and welcoming and the evening programs were funny and entertaining and a little loud too, we could even here the noise from the neighbouring hotels. Food was satisfactory.
However, everything is just a small walk distance (shops/bars/restaurants/beach) The hotel doesn't have a direct beach access, you have to go along the streets to reach it, but once you are there its great. Bars and clubs are also reachable with a bike (renting is a great idea) and in my opinion are perfect sources of fun! The nightouts has been extremely good and I loved all the places we found nearby.
I would recommend it to those couples/small families who do not need large open areas/places and direct beach access and do not have very high expectations. I would rate Gemini as average+.

This has been the worst holiday ever. The hotel DID NOT accommodate english speaking guests, all menus and food was catered for Non English speaking people. There was no entertainment, no local places of interest everywhere was closed. TV stations in the room NOT for english speaking people...... The rooms however were spotlessley clean all beit very basic. Food bland repetitive and most of it inedible, there must have been a bumper crop of peaches, this was on the menu for breakfast every day.
