“Great family resort!”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

During the month of July 2012, I spent a week staying at Loulass Aparthotel in Corfu. This was my first visit to Corfu, so we weren't too sure what to expect. Certianly the area is a little semi-rural - you can reach the beach and nearby town within a fifteen to twenty minute walk however the roads are quite dangerous, especially at night with bad lighting and cliff drops to one side - not recommended for the faint hearted, or older travellers!

The impact of the recession is very noticeable - some beautiful restaurants there, one just across the road, another at the bottom of the hill - but all very dead much of the time. Food is stunning however, and prices reflect the recession so it's incredibly affordable but as a conscientious traveller, I certainly felt guitly paying such low prices for so much food!

Loulass itself is lovely - perfect for a family holiday as there is a pool, onsite-entertainment, kids club etc. Many families may find they do not need to leave the resort at all during the holiday itself. For us (two in mid-twenties) we found it a little too family-orientated at the resort, and too quiet regards nightlife in the nearby towns however this is not the fault of the resort itself.

Costas, who runs it, is very personable and personally greets each guest on arrival, as well as getting on the tour bus at the end of the holiday to shake hands with each guest and thank them for staying there.

One negative point was that you must pay extra to have air conditioning in the rooms, which, in dead heat like we had in Corfu this year, I thought was a little extravagant, and should have been included in the price of the room for the holiday! That aside, no complaints. Bar and restaurant downstairs also. Rooms are cleaned every 2-3 days. Each room has balcony. No TV's in rooms.

For me, I would not return as I seek a different kind of holiday but would recommend to people certainly.

Just spent my third visit to Loulas village. It is so friendly and. Costas and his staff do so much to make your stay perfect for you. Young and old will love this hotel. Easy access for anyone with mobility issues. Will return again next year and know I will get a great welcome. Thanks to costas and everyone of his family and staff.

My wife and I stayed here for one week from the 31st of August this year. First time visitors to Corfu, have stayed in Rhodes twice early 2000s so new a little about the culture.
A mini coach brought us from the airport to the hotel, the ride was OK, but we noticed the impact of the recession along the route, (a lot of unfinished, empty shop fronts and uncared for structures).
Costas was waiting in reception for our coach and booked us in very quickly without asking for passports, we liked that.
We understand that running costs have risen everywhere and would not quibble with an extra 50 euros for airconditioning. It made a difference at night and could not have done without it.
Being September I suppose it's the wasp season. It did not seem to bother the other guests, but it bugged me.
We could not fault the apartment, bathroom very clean, I like soft mattresses but it did not stop me sleeping well.
I don't know what was the story with the crooked pictures and mirrors in the apartment.
The hotel food was good value and a fair range.
The hotel was quite at night ,I suppose for this time of year.
Messonghi village was quite a walk and as described earlier, 7 euros to the taxi rank or the Rossis bus stop.
Throughout the time we was in Corfu the food was value for money. I could not get enough of the pork gyros.
I'm sorry but I could only remember the names of Costas and Alex the barman. Very friendly and if people get offended by them then people can be narrow minded.
The maps supplied can be deceptive, they do not show going up, down and around the hills, when driving. Good rule of thumb, keep right look left and give way when on thier roundabouts.
Overall what we paid for the holiday, we thought it was good value.

We came outside of school holidays, because we wanted a quiet break. There had been over 30 children staying the previous week, but during the first week of September it was almost exclusively couples or groups - mostly Irish and English - of all ages. Many of the other people were old friends, having been coming to Loulass for many years. The owner, Kostas and his staff were extremely welcoming and gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble. The hotel, public areas and apartments themselves were spotless. The apartments were adequately furnished - a tad light on kitchen equpiment and the bed though hard was perfect for a good night's sleep. Power shower with body jets was brilliant. Air conditioning was available as an extra. Some people made good use of the bar and restaurant - we ate there once and though the food was excellent - preferred to go out to eat. There was a nice taverna opposite and an excellent fish restaurant on the shore only a hundred or so yards away. Disappointed that the closest 'beach' was only a strip of very knobbly pebbles, but there was an excellent sandy beach at Messonghi only a ten minute walk away. Over all, we spent one of the most relaxing and pleasant weeks of our lives. A perfect way to unwind....

Room Tip: rooms numbered 400 are furthest from the swimming pool and bar - Rooms 200 are closest. Convenien...

I first came to Loulass about 7 years ago. I'd been to Corfu when I was 16 and enjoyed it then. The weather, the people and the history of Greece is always intriguing. Messonghi is small but accessible and has to compete with the bigger towns likes Sidari, Kavos & Corfu town itself. BUT it's friendly, quiet, cheap and a little gem of the island.

My parents have been going there for their anniversary for 14 years and they really enjoy it. As with every holiday it is what you make it. If you want to be by the pool or go to the beach then do it, If you want to roam the island or go on organised trips you can do that also. They have themed nights and always lots of fun to be had.

It's a friendly place with a family feel and nothing is too much trouble. The apartments are lovely and clean and i've seen them updated over the years. Costa's always makes you feel at home and his lovely wife Maria is a treat along with Alex who not only is one of the funniest barmen i've ever met but one of the friendliest.

I would recommend this to anyone and have taken my friends over the years, it's for all ages!!!

Room Tip: If you need help with mobility ask beforehand and Costa's will do his best to make your stay com...

Having been there a few times gaining some powerful memories i decided to write a review.

First of, the location is excellent , close to the sea , quiet and gives you the chance to experience first hand traditional greek landscape and life. The village of Mesonghi is nearby if u want to shop some stuff and there are a couple taverns also if you decide to dine outside the hotel.
The resort itself is in top notch condition , result of yearly innovations and maintance.
The staff is welcoming , super friendly and helpful.
It is the perfect choice if you want to chill out , relax and get some refreshing vacation.
In these times when people value a lot more the factor "value for money" , Loulass village remains one of the best ,if not the best, options.
Experience it.

Just returned from loulass having visited once before, four years ago. Reading the other reviews, I would pretty much agree with most of them (if that's possible). We really only used if as a base and spent most of our time out and about. Beds are rock hard and a/c expensive but yet the place has a charm of its own. Love the surrounding area of messongi, laid back and easy, all in all had a wonderful fortnights holiday but if it were easy to book independently and stay closer to village , would probably do that. Having said that, there were so many people on their 10th 12th +. Visit so somebody must be doing something right!!!
