“The Coral was everything we looked forward to!”
Reviewed August 21, 2011

We have recently returned from our holiday to the Coral - and loved every minute!

This is a family run hotel and all the staff are fantastic - cleaners, reception, bar, restaurant.

The Coral has an enviable position right on the seafront. It is only a five minute walk to the resort of Roda where there is a sandy beach which shelves very gently into the sea.

The hotel is extremely clean and modern. We stayed in the garden wing on the ground floor. Our room was spacious and clean, plenty of storage, beds firm but comfortable, and the bathroom was well equipped with a walk in corner shower, vanity unit and loo. Bath and hand towel were provided and changed during the week.

Our room had a terrace which opened onto a very nice lawn with shrubs and trees.

The pool area is exceptionally clean and well equipped with plenty of sun loungers, chairs and a hammock. The pool bar serves drinks, meals and lovely ice cream. There is also a basket where you can leave your half-used suncreams. In Reception there is a bookcase where you can borrow paperbooks too.

The food for breakfast was fine. (Sometimes Greek breakfasts are quite basic.) There was always a choice of three cereals, three jams, a hot choice, wonderful Greek yoghurt, fruit, cooked meats and cheese, toast, brioche and wonderful chocolate spread. The coffee was very good, although the fruit juice was a bit watery.

The food in the hotel restaurant is excellent, and the Greek Night and BBQ Evening should not be missed.

The hotel offers room safes, fridges and air con - all at reasonable rates. Hair dryers are available from Reception - free of charge.

Roda is on the level and would be ideal for people with mobility problems.

We ate out in the village and our recommendation would be the Newport (on the seafront - with wonderful sunsets - the Seafood Saganaki is fabulous!) A meal there with starter, main course, beer/wine would be about 15 euros per person.

We went on two excursions:
One to Corfu town by boat in the day, which was most enjoyable (booked at the agents next to the Hotel)
A day to Kassiopi - an absolutely wonderful resort, with a lovely harbour, but could be rather hilly. (booked at Reception)

There is a good supermarket about 5 minutes walk from the Hotel - turn right out of the hotel - although there is also a supermarket virtually next to the Hotel too.

Corfu Airport is quite basic once you are through to Departures - so if you have the time and wish to eat there is a seated cafeteria prior to going through to Departures.

You will realise from the above that we had a thoroughly enjoyable time at the Coral Hotel and do hope that we will return.

Room Tip: We can only speak for the Garden Wing, but we were most pleased with our ground floor rooms because...

We have just come back from 11 nights at the Coral Hotel and had an amazing time - we would go back tommorow!

Beautiful, seafront location
Quiet pool area, its easy to get a sunbed and the pool is warm and clean
Amazing food in the restaurant
5 minutes walk from the Centre of Roda
The Hotels Greek and BBQ nights are a must
Tasos' Cocktails! Especially the Singapore Sling!
Very Clean rooms.
The Staff are what make this Hotel so brilliant, from the cleaners and waiters to the bar staff and managers they will do anything for you. They are so helpful - Nicos, Dimitris, Tasos and Freddie made our holiday what it was!

If there is a better, friendlier, cleaner & better hotel on any of the Greek islands then my wife & I have yet to find it. The people who own & run it have a wonderful attitude towards their clients. Everyone from the manager Demetris down to the restaurant & bar staff to the cleaners they just cannot do enough for you. The position of the hotel, just on the edge of the village & right on the seafront is perfect for easy access to the village amenities & beach and is also just the right distance for the perfect evening stroll & watching beautiful sunsets. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: We had a sea veiw room that was just perfect

This holiday was one of the best holidays ive ever had. Not only were all the staff the most friendliest people, but the whole atmosphere of it was amazing.
I came on this holiday with my mum, dad and my friend and i would mostly recomend it to familys over the age of 13, only as there wasnt many children younger. But yet again there are alot of activities like the pool which are fun for younger ages. During the day we would either stay at the hotel and relax by the pool, or we would head into town which is only litrerlly a 2 minute walk. And during the night we would sit in the bar for a drink and then go back into town or stay in the hotel. The hotel food was amazing and they do as much as possible to fuss over you, and every Thursday they have greek night were they have greek dancers who well dance.. but its so fascinating just to watch them and to get involved with the dances.
Also the staff are so friendly and speak most languages, they have great sence of humours and are great company to have. We stayed in the seaview room and the beds were sooo comphy! also the maids would come in everyday and make your beds and change your towels and every other day will change your bed sheets.
I honestly cant wait untill we come back next year, this was probably one of the best holidays and will recomend it to any familys or couples ect!

Room Tip: make sure you pay for air-con you will defenatly need it, make sure its close to the pool and bar an...

I chose the Coral because it had a beautiful setting and had good reviews. If I could I would have given it a 3.5 as there were some things which let it down a little. Having said that, if the hotel were not on a Greek island I would not hesitate to go back. I am just going to do a simple list of positives and negatives.

Positive :-)
Clean and tidy rooms
Beautiful location
Very quiet area - peaceful atmosphere
Mostly fabulous staff
Warm swimming pool (warm enough to swim in)
Plenty of sunbeds
Pretty gardens - lemon trees, hibiscus and loads more
Very nice fellow guests - decent and friendly
Free Wifi in one spot (bit slow but free)
Well cooked food with good choice in the evening
Stunning views
5 minutes from main area - I have mobility difficulties and could walk it

Negatives :-(
Exorbitant prices at pool bar and not allowed to bring own drinks (or food) to the area. 1.7E for small soft drink.
Single beds quite small and very firm. Rolling over takes care.
Pillows off the Flintstones. Was I to go back I would take or buy an inflatable one.
Head waiter reserves the nicest tables for people who drink a lot or tip well. He does this without being asked and seats other people further back. As a non smoker I like to sit upwind of smokers if possible.
Very smoky. Not a negative if you smoke :-)
Breakfast a bit bland - but lovely coffee - the juice was weak, but I love weak juice so that was a positive for me :-) (Try mixing the orange and grapefruit)
Shower head did not fit properly and kept jumping out.
Evil Mozzies - do not buy insect repellent out there - it is either useless or exorbitant. I would 'belt and braces'. If I were to go back I would cover myself with insect repellent lotion/cream and then roll some extra over the top. I would definitely make sure it has Deet. A lot of people were very badly bitten.

Overall I really did like this hotel. It has far more pluses than minuses. My problem is with the Greek economy and the prices. For a basic meal for two with soft drinks we paid a minimum of 18E and up to 30E. I normally go out of Europe and am used to spending half the amount on both food and soft drinks.

Beware the caves trip - the deserted beach had about two hundred people on it and the BBQ wasn't a BBQ. The glass bottom boat gave us a lovely view of some 'interesting rock'. Paradise Beach should be renamed Wasp Haven and there were a lot of very annoyed people. It is very easy to catch buses and book things privately. There is also Sam's boat rental right next to the hotel (fuel extra - clearly stated).

Room Tip: I personally wouldn't bother trying to get a sea view. The rooms in the new block are bigger and...

This is a lovely hotel set on the sea front at Roda. The outside patio area has stunning views and is a lovely place to relax with a coffee or a cocktail. The staff are very friendly and make everyone feel welcome. The rooms are set amongst well kept gardens, lots of flowers and greenery. The swimming pool is lovely, a wee bit small, but fine for us. We loved the hotel, but were a bit disappointed in Roda. Looked a bit run down, and the beach needed a good clean. Liked the restaurants and bars that were along the front, especially Schoona. We took the bus to Sidari one day, and Kassiopi another day. They are both worth a visit, although Kassiopi is by far the most picturesque, it is a beautiful place. Corfu town is a must to visit. We did the evening cruise, and had dinner in a lovely wee restaurant. There are plenty to choose from. We had a coffee at the Liston, and strolled through the narrow streets, a lovely experience. We also took the trip to Paxos and Parga. It is an early start, and a long day, but well worth it to see a more traditional type of island (Paxos). Parga is on the mainland of Greece, and is also very picturesque, but more "upmarket ". A lovely holiday on a beautiful island.

Room Tip: there are only a few rooms with a sea view. Most rooms are set within the gardens
